Day four of having Harlow and i do believe she just threw a temper tantrum? if bunnies even do this? lol.
She’s been out of her cage most of the day today. When she hopped into her cage i closed it a few times so i could do what i need to do around the house for a bit but eventually id open it back up and let her hop around some more while i laid on the floor watching her doing my homework.
Each night i’ve had her i move her cage by my door to block off my bookshelf and other boxes of things i have in my room, lay out the blankets and toys on the floor, lay down blocking the other half of the room and open her cage letting her out. When it’s time for her to get “put up” for the night, i’ll close the cage door whenever she decides to go in there and start picking everything up (toys, poops, blankets) and i think she has started to catch on to this little routine.
Tonight as i started picking up her poops, she’d nudge past me and get out when i opened her cage door to put them in her little pathetic litter box i gave her for now. After a few times of this, i blocked her way and kept her in. But she got so mad at me! She flipped her litter box, started making a grunting noise and started biting and digging at the door of her cage for the first time. it’s obvious she wanted back out but she’s never done this? I got a hold of a vet earlier today that is surprisingly right around the corner from my house to talk about setting an appointment up for her to get checked out and eventually spayed. She’s literally the sweetest bunny, loves to cuddle, no longer struggles being picked up at all, totally great. But she started humping my cat, and lifting her butt in the air every time your hand goes near her butt so i’m assuming it’s time for her to get spayed.
i guess my question is, will spaying her help this behavior or do bunnies throw tantrums? She’s still digging at the cage to get out. But it’s the grunting and flipping things and throwing things around that caught me off guard. lol. She’s been so sweet and calm, but it’s apparent she did not want to go back into her cage just then lol.
Also a side note, not trying to make a long post even longer, but as i was putting her blankets away i felt a wet spot on one of them. When i looked closer it was this white sticky texture. i know they sometimes have calcium(?) i think in their urine but was wondering if this would be it? i didn’t think it would actually leave behind a sticky substance, just thought it was apart of the urine.
