Well, I wasn’t really looking for a rabbit so soon after Simba died but when I saw “Lacey” a lionhead mix, I instantly fell in love with her, she’s already spayed, and UTD on shots, I think she’s less than a year old (It just says she’s a baby, not the actual age. But obviously old enough to be spayed.)
We will be changing her name if we adopt her, because well, my sister’s name is Lacy, and that’s pretty confusing, considering our dog’s name is Lucy, there’s already too much confusion when I call for Lucy.
Anyway, my mom told me to get the cage we were building Simba all finished built, and told me I had to pay for her, and anything else needed (Hay, new hay rack, new bowls, food, etc.) and she’ll let me get her.
But I mean, look at her, she is adorable. She stood out above all other rabbits that were on all the adoption websites I’ve visited.
She’s beautiful! Such a cute little face! =] Don’t forget to get some of the pellets she’s currently on (from the shelter) and slowly switch her over to the brand that you’re planning on giving her. Do you have a name in mind for her? =]

I’ll probably end up asking what kind of pellets they give her and just buy those. I don’t do too well with switching foods over, but I am able to do so it if needed (Such as when we learned my dog had allergies towards the food we were feeding him, and had to switch him and our other dog to a natural diet with no wheat in it.) and no we don’t have a name in mind yet, but I might wait until we actually get her, so I can see her personality. I switched Simba’s name from Love Bug, to Honey Bun and then Simba… Although, that last name change was because we found out he wasn’t actually a girl. So really, it depends on her personality.
She’s certainly beautiful!!!! Wishing you all the best of luck with your new bunny adventure!
She’s adorable!!!!
Rabbits don’t need any shots (vaccinations or rabies) in the US.
Sarita is right, they don’t need any shots here in Canada either. You might want to check up on what they gave her before bringing her home with you
It just says she’s UTD on shots, it may just be an automatic thing, because the shelter also is for dogs and cats, but I included it because that’s what it says.
See? It may be because they just clicked something to enter it, I’m not sure how petfinder works, it may just have something you click to widen the search for other people.
They may mean treatments, like deworming and such… you may want to call or go in and inquire about it though

I’m going to get my dad to, because I don’t do well on the phone.
I think you are correct about the “automatic thing” on Petfinders – sometimes though the person who enters the info on Petfinders does not really know everything about the particular animal. I would doubt that the rabbit has been dewormed as well – that is not something that is usually done even as maintenance on rabbits. I don’t think then you need to worry about the shots – I think it’s just how they must enter on all their adoptables since that is how you found Lacey.
I’m actually going to see if we can set an appointment to meet her sometime soon, so I’ll ask all questions needed then.
OMG…She’s absolutely gorgeous! She’s a visual cross between my buns Pip and Mimzy. What a lucky find!
Oh I do hope you can bring her home. I’m very excited for you!
What a pretty bun Good luck on the meeting!
Update: We will be going to see “Lacey” sometime this week, or next week (Not Monday or Wednesday, they’re closed to public those days.) So hopefully we’ll be taking her home with us within the week. We also decided to rename her either, “Nala”, “Sarafina” (Probably Sara for short.) or “Kiara”
So happy for you! Hope all goes well with meeting your new girl.
Ahhh, I want to buy all this stuff from the BB store for Nala (We finally chose a name) before we get her, but I have no credit card. I could just go to petsmart and buy the stuff I want there, but the one closest to me has next to nothing for rabbits, they have food, chews, unhealthy treats, and cages way too small, but Simba never liked any of the chews I bought for him, just one tunnel made out of willow, which he destroyed within two hours. Who knows, maybe Nala will be interested in that kinda stuff., but I realllly wanted to buy one of the play houses for her, maybe the maze haven or a tunnel. I COULD just find a couple cardboard boxes, but that requires me talking to people I don’t know at a store or something. But I really shouldn’t buy her too much before I know what she’s interested in. I’m not sure what her history was, so she may have never had a toy in her whole life for all I know. I’ll have to remember to ask if she’s shown interest in chew toys (If the shelter even gave her any.)
Is there anything else I should ask the shelter? I know to ask what type of food they fed her, how much, and if she has any medical history, but in all honesty, this will be the first shelter animal I have owned ever. My mom was always so dead set on getting pure bred dogs, pure bred cats, she even bought Simba from a breeder. (Well, there was one cat I found when I was 9 that was hit by a car, he ended up living with us for a good 3-4 years, staying inside during the winter and outside in the summer, before going his own way.) But other than that, my mom was dead set against shelter animals, she was even asking me if I was sure I wanted to get that rabbit, or if I wanted to buy a baby rabbit. As much as I think baby buns are cute, I really like Nala, and it makes me happy to know I could take her in and give her a great life, the shelter’s no kill, but someone else may adopt her and not know how to properly care for a rabbit (I’ve been researching as much as I can for nearly 6 years, since I was like 11 or 12 I wanted a rabbit, and when I’m interested in something, I retain all knowledge that has to do with such thing. I guess that’s the only good thing with me having aspergers syndrome, no one seems to agree with me. They get annoyed and holler at me when I go off on some tangent about how female lions can grow manes like a male, or how some tortoises could live for 100 years, something like that that I heard on animal planet. I actually went off on my ex one time because she had her rabbit in a dingy little cage with a wire bottom and only fed it carrots and pellets. I told her nearly every fact I knew about rabbits and she ended up blocking me on facebook. I just couldn’t help myself. She pretty much neglected it and had only got one after I got Simba, to be honest.)
But uhhh, I think that’s all I wanted to say, most of it was me getting distracted, so pardon me on that one. I’ll probably remember it in a little bit, although, I may go to sleep soon, I just realized the time! It’s nearly five in the morning where I’m at, I didn’t notice it at all.. I’m sorry if this seems all over the place, I’m excited, and I just want to give her a great life. With Simba, I knew what he liked to the T. I knew what veggies he preferred, where he liked to hide, and everything in between….

So happy for you! Hope all goes well with meeting your new girl.
Thank you, I hope so too.
All I can say is if you get this rabbit, she’s going to be one lucky bunny! You’ll be a great care giver. Just as you were for Simba.
I can tell you’re excited I hope it all goes well for you.
Just want to point out for the BB store they take PayPal too!! (Great invention) all you have to do is get the account on PayPal and then connect it to your debit card and there’s no charges or anything to use it

I don’t have any of that, I don’t have an actual job, just helping dad or mom out. I’m getting like 500$ real soon, and I’ll be putting that in the bank. But, I don’t have it right now. lol
So I’m not getting Nala today, like my dad promised… He promised and now he’s staying at work until 4 and the shelter closes at 4 today. ):
Never mind on that, he was able to get out a bit earlier, but we can’t adopt her til next week because we came in after 3:15 and that’s when they stop doing everything for adopting and such.
We can’t adopt her until Monday, but the lady said that we’re the first people in the whole year or so she’s volunteered at that shelter to want to adopt a rabbit. I feel so sad, they have like 6 other rabbits. They’re all so loving! They keep the rabbits outside, and when I asked her what pellets they give her, she said “You know, standard pellets.” She didn’t tell me the brand because she didn’t know. D: But she was so friendly, and loving, she actually started to lick my face, she also decided to dig at my stomach though. The lady brought her past the howling and barking dogs so we can see her in a room and she didn’t even jump or struggle to get away.
Oh goodness, I commented on the other thread but had to pop in here too! I’m so happy for you and for you deciding to get another bun!
She’s so pretty! Do you know what breed she is? I guess the logical answer would be Lionhead, but I’ve never seen such a distinct difference between the mane and the rest of her fur, it looks quite short.
Yeah, she’s a mix, mainly lionhead, but I can’t figure out what she’s mixed with, and the shelter doesn’t know, or the person I asked didn’t.
Wow, she is gorgeous!
Today is Monday….so…does this mean she’s home with you now?
Not yet, one more day, the shelter’s closed on Mondays. I’m excited though. I know I won’t be able to sleep, I never do when I’m excited about something.
Also, we’re getting two buns instead of one, I don’t have a photo of the boy, but apparently they were brought in together and they had to separate them because they got too big to be in the same hutch.
