Ok guys so if any of you have been reading my posts you would know that today I was driving quite far away, to go get my between 12-14 week old holland lop. We left really early this morning so that we would have time to drive around the town and explore/shop before picking her up. So we did things such as go to petsmart, target, wallmart a mall there ect…and then I saw an Exotic pet Store!!!! I love reptiles so I asked my fianc’e if we could go (and he said yes of course) so we went in and I was amazed, there were alligators, porcupines, capy buras, rats, mice, snakes, lizards, monkeys, turtles, hamsters, sugar gliders, skunks, chinchillas, and then….I saw…bunny’s…..about 30 of them….all 8 weeks to 4 years of age….I was in heaven. Then I walked over to a giant round floor bin, it practically took up half the store! In that bin there were about 4 hairless guinea pigs, about 2 regular guinea pigs, 3 or so dutch bunny’s and 5 or so baby Holland Lops. Everything in the bin were all female. The store was very clean and organized…but there were too many animals in it for the space they had (as many exotic pet stores go) keep in mind I was supposed to go get my lop later in the day. But as I was looking at the girl lops I noticed one broken tort, mostly white with brown ears and brown patches around her eyes and a dark brown nose sitting quietly in the corner while all the other babies jumped on top of her spazing out, paying her no attention. I asked the owner if she was on hold as they had a long list attached to a board of the bunny’s who have already been paid for. And no…she wasn’t on hold. I know what your thinking “I hope she didn’t adopt from there” BUT I DID We asked a bunch of questions to find out if she was healthy, where she came from , why and how they got her all that jazz. Answers- She just turned 8 weeks, they got her from a breeder (where I was getting mine from anyways) the breeder actually adopted her mom from this store a couple years ago and ended up with an accidental litter so she took them there to be adopted out. She’s in perfect health (I looked her over myself, I’m in veterinary medicine so I knew what to look for physically) she was in perfect health. So I called the breeder and was honest, I told her where I was and what I was thinking and she even told me I should take her from the store to give her a good life and that she actually had a guess who her breeder had been, and that she was good and that she would give the bunny (I was going to take from her) to someone else. That meant a lot to me knowing she wasn’t mad and that we both wanted to get her out of that store. So I asked the owner if she is for sure female, and signed some paper’s and left with her Her name is Bella, she so far loves being picked up and held, eats like a hog and loooooooves toilet paper rolls and has began tearing up a phone book. Im in love with her. Thanks for reading, pictures to come soon.
