Once upon a time there was a stray bunny caught hopping across the lawn of a neighbor of Bunny Lu. The neighbor thought the bunny belonged to Bunny Lu and escaped, so they scooped her up and took her there. The neighbor was informed that the stray bunny was not a Bunny Lu bunny but the rescue had a space and could take her in. They named her Zinnia.
She was a medium sized steel colored bunny and so very sweet. She was one of those rare bunnies who loves to sit in peoples’ arms for hours and hours being petted and talked to. TARM was a new volunteer at Bunny Lu and she really liked Zinnia. Every time TARM came to clean the bunny cages she spent a lot of time with Zinnia. One day TARM showed up to do her regular volunteering and Zinnia was gone. She had been adopted. TARM was both happy and sad. At the time TARM did not adopt Zinnia because she thought she could not handle any more bunnies. She already had two at home (heh).
A year went by and TARM became a board member for Bunny Lu. She spens lots more time there and has many more responsibilities. As a board member, and the person who updates Petfinder, she is notified when new bunnies are coming in and/or adopted bunnies are being returned. She found out last week that Zinnia has lost her home and will be arriving today. TARM is sad for Zinnia and tells Mary Ellen, who is taunting her with this information because she knows TARM has a soft spot for Zinnia, that Zinnia will not be coming home with her because she already has six rabbits.
Zinnia arrives while TARM is working on bonding a blind bunny whose companion died on Monday with another bunny. She did not see Zinnia before she was put into one of the cages. After working on the bonding she decides that it is time to go home. Before she leaves she picks up the camera to take a new picture of Zinnia.
When TARM sees Zinnia she completely loses it because, not only is Zinnia every bit as beautiful as she remembers, she is also 12 lbs and about three times larger than she was when she left. TARM has wanted a felmmie since she found out they existed and it turns out that Zinnia is a flemmi mix!
TARM kneels in front of the cage, hands the camera to Amber, and picks Zinnia up and snuggles her. Zinnia buries her face in TARM’s neck and TARM is helpless against the gotcha fairy. “Oh, no, she is coming home with me TODAY.” TARM declares. Mary Ellen had followed her to Zinnias cage with a carrier because she knew this was going to happen.
TARM filled out her adoption paperwork less than 30 minutes after Zinnia was returned. Zinnia is now cozy in her new cage, which Ozzie and Oliver were kicked out of (they have been relocated back into Amber’s bedroom). TARM has her flemmie and she will now live happily ever after.
The end.
And pictures.
