I left home this morningat 7:30, giving myself an hour and a half to get to work… (normally takes an hour…).. so was feeling pretty chirpy that I was going to be early When I was halfway there I noticed a Pest Control ute infront of me had so much stuff piled on the back of it, it looked like it was going to fall off… And perched right on top of the pile of stuff was a possum cage… with a dirty little black and white kitten in it. Wobbling around as the ute weaved in and out of traffic, it was mewing so loud it sounded like it was screaming. It was so scared.
the guy was driving so fast in and out of traffic, I dont know how the cage stayed in place! So I plugged in my handsfree on my phone and started following the ute. I called the cops and asked if there was anything they could do, and they said they would keep an eye out, but I should call the RSPCA. So I called the RSPCA and they said there was nothing they could do. Meanwhile I was driving so fast trying to keep up with this guy who was doing almost 75 in a 60 zone. I finally caught him at the lights and asked what he was doing with the kitten. He shrugged and said that he hadnt thought about that yet, He had too many jobs to get to for the day and he would “deal with” the kitten after work. then he laughed. I dindt like him much, he seemed a bit creepy. So I took the kitten.
the pest control man drove off, seemingly happy that he dindt have to ‘deal’ with it any more.
By this time it was 9 o’clock. I was meant to be at work, but was at least 15 minutes from the office still, and couldnt take the kitten with me because my boss is also a pest controller, and hates cats. I couldnt take him home. Home is an hour away, and by this time my boss is calling me on my phone because this guy at work called Phil is making up things to complain about. He is such a whinger. If there is nothing to whinge about, he makes something up. Yesterday, he actually made up an address and said that I had neglected that house for a year and that I should get on top of my job. After logging into http://www.whereis.com, and also google earth, I proved to my boss that that address didnt actually exist, but of course Phil had already had his dig, and thought it was hilarious. But thats another story.
So crying all the way, I had to take the poor kitten to the RSPCA. It was such a sweet little thing, but Carl is allergic to cats so I couldnt even take it home after work I feel so bad. I hope its ok. It was really dirty, and I cleaned it up a lot at the servo so it looked a lot cleaner and healthier for the RSPCA. They said it will probably go up for adoption in about 2 weeks which is the start of the Christmas holidays.
I feel so bad. In the past I have always taken them home but now I live with Carl, and he cant have cats because they make him really sick
Its 9:55 now. I got to work about 5 minutes ago and have a long list of things on my desk that Phil isnt happy with. All I can think about is the Kitty. I hope its going to be ok.
