Cross-posting from another bunny messageboard…..for anyone who can help with adopting,f ostering or donating funds….

Linda Baley, my bunny rescue partner, has just rescued approximately 80 bunnies and of the few, she will keep (going up for adoption) but the rest is going to go to the humane society where they will be euthenized… this is the e-mail from her and if you can help out by donating great, if you wanna adopt or foster, even BETTER! we just really need the help we can if youre in the US, theres always the bunderground system so we can deliver them to you! please let me know! THANKS!

morning! here is a link to some pics of yesterdays (feb 16th) adventure dealing with a house in a residential neighborhood Los Angeles with Over 70 bunnies running free inside and out. The back yard had rabbits above and below ground with the begginings of a large tunnel system that was inches away from the neighbors’ property.

They were not separated male from female. I counted 5 current litters still nursing there and 18 juvenile buns. I currently have 9 heavily pregnant moms at my home waiting to be spayed – hopefully it is not too late, but they are close to birthing so I fear some are not spayable at this time.

I am sure that many of the females I had to leave behind are pregnant also. I will be back for them on Friday and am currently trying to get vet help for them.

Total bunny count here is approx 80. The good news is that the majority are healthy and there seem to be no serious wounds.

Total dollar amount for this carelessness is estimated at :
        $5000.00 for spay and neuter,
        $200 / month for hay,
        $100 / Month for feed.
        Cage costs?
        Advertising costs?
and probably about 6 hrs a day in volunteer time.

I estimate it will take over a year to find homes for all these bunnies.

        __________________________________________________________

All the shelters are FULL of bunnies - We are currently working with the authorities and several rabbit rescue groups in solving this problem but there is no quick fix. The only humane answer is to spay and neuter all of them and then find some way to house them until they can all get foster of permanent homes.

        To donate:

For the Amanda Foundation who will spay/neuter these bunnies, the link is

        http://amandafoundation.org/Donate.htm

PLEASE specify that it is “for bunnies” and the donation will go directly to these bunnies (fyi… spay/neuter cost per bunny here is $100)

For the PetSave Foundation who are helping us with housing and other things, the link is

        http://www.petsave.org/donate.htm

UPDATE: majority of these 80 bunnies will be turned to the Humane society where they would probably be euthenized this week. we need adopters or fosterers to help us out if you know anybody.. THANKS!

        Please feel free to cross-post!

OMG.  This is just heartbreaking. What a huge undertaking. The irresponsibility never mind stupidity is beyond me.  Those poor little creatures deserves so much better.  I hope whoever started this mess gets punished big time.
