I almost forgot about this believe it or not. A few weeks before Christmas, I went away for 3 days or so. I had arranged for one of my sisters who lives nearby to come in and tend Jersey in my absence. During this time, my mother and another sister were travelling to town a few times for various appointments. They let themselves into my place for a lunchstop and breather etc.

Apparently whilst the fridge door was open, a curious rabbit hopped in to investigate. This was unknown to them until Mum opened the door later to find her sitting there, right as rain!  She said she even had to prompt her to get out. Neither of them knew how long she may have been in there! I can only laugh now as I know it didn’t have any ill effects on Jersey. I’m sure it mustn’t have been too long – I hope!!!!

What astounded me is nobody told me at the time! I kinda guessed by Christmas Eve and made a point of bringing it up on the day. Apparently there were bets that I’d know by Christmas! I didn’t blame anyone but made it known it was important to tell me these things so I could keep an eye on her health. So now it is all understood.

        Ah, but that little Rabbit!

Hahaha! The same thing happened with my friend’s cat! they thought he ran away, only to find him looking up at him when they opened the door…and he didn’t want to come out!

          God I love animals.

There was a great webpage on the net somewhere years ago that had a picture of this bunny sitting in the refrigerator, and the text beneath went something like…

Owner: “What are you doing in there?”
Bunny: “Well, this is a Westinghouse, right?”
            Owner: “Yes.”
            Bunny: “Well, I’m WESTING!”

Wish I could remember where it was…it was a hoot!

New England is cold, but Jersey is cold, too.

Oohhhh Pam! *holds nose at geographical pun*

I have to say though, I wish I could find a way to refrigerate my bunnies. Hubby has heat up in house SO high that my room is at 80 degrees Fahrenheit day and night. They are not comfortable. Freeze bottles just don’t do it for them and they hate the noise of the fan.

Too bad I just can’t open the window but it’s about 40 – 50 below zero out there for the next week…not a good idea. >.< Believe me, the minute I can have my window open it gets cranked and STAYS that way for the rest of the warm season.

If you drape wet cloths over the pen, will it still help cool them down if there’s no breeze blowing on it? Or will it only stagnate the air further? What do you guys think?

I can’t answer your ? Mimz, but wow thats crazy that the hubby cranks the heat…opposite problem here… I’m FREEZING, trying to fall asleep in our NON heated bedroom, cuz he likes it cold!

Like the new avy & sig MM. Could you turn the heat down degree by degree? He mightn’t notice an ever so subtle change. Don’t think the evaporative cooling would work without air flow, just end up being humid. Heat rises so popping the cages down lower might help. Getting hubby some lambswool thermals might too!

lolz…Usually every Christmas he gets one goofy pair of shorts, either from me or his own mum. ^_^ One year the shorts had Frosty the Snowman on them (complete with googly eyes) and came with a matching top hat…too funny! xD I should’ve gotten him the Grinch set this year.

And the reason the heat is so high is that it’s boiler heat and the boiler is quite old and doesn’t work all that great, so he cranks it just to keep it ‘temperate’ in here…his temperate is my Hades. 0_o

I wish I had room to lower the pen. Sadly it’s in the only safe place right now, but I hope with spring cleaning we’ll get that sussed. Either that or when she and Mimzy finally get a place of their own together. ^_^ Going to be ground level, that.
