I noticed Frankie’s tummy was gurgling very loudly when I came home from getting a christmas tree today. My mom had been home… apparently not keeping a very good eye on him even though she was letting him roam around. So like 45 minutes later I notice a package of Trident bubble gum with a few half eaten pieces and ripped wrappers… obviously the cause of the extreme gurgling.

Is there I can do to aid Frankie’s digestion? He ate his dinner and is interested in his hay still… He tends to get into the weirdest stuff, but luckily he has a stomach of steel. Any suggestions would be helpful.

One of my friend’s bunny ate half a pack of bubble gum & was fine -even though she went into a mad panic LOL. Keep a really close eye on him & if he shows any sign of going off food, take him to a vet I guess. Same old advice

I’d give him some simethicone…it would help with any gas and gurgling, and if he’s starting to develop gas it could prevent it from turning bad.

It’s good that he’s continuing to eat – ESPECIALLY HAY as that will help move things along. I honestly don’t know what to do in the case of gum. What I researched on the net just now was to just keep an eye on him like you are doing. And since simethicone doesn’t hurt, it wouldn’t be a bad idea especially since his stomach is gurgling so much. Make sure to check on him (and his litterbox) first thing in the am and offer one of his favorite things to eat to make sure he’s eating.

Exercise can also help keep the digestive track on the move. So maybe make a little obstacle course, or give him a new box to explore so he’ll have interest in moving around.

            Keep us updated.

Didn’t someone’s bunny on this board eat bubble gum before? I seem to remember there being a discussion about the bunny pooping a bubble.

He seems to be fine now. He really does get into some weird things sometimes.

Moonlight Wolf you are correct. I totally remember that too!

Rachel, I am sure that Frankie will be fine but like everyone has already mentioned if he goes off his food take him to the vet and I too don’t see where the simethicone would hurt. The gum should pass through his GI tract. Was it sugar free by any chance?

It was sugar free. I can’t see how chemical fake sugar would be any better, though (it gives me tremors!)
