        Greetings all!
My mother just got an email about some bunns in desperate need of adoption outside Pittsburg. I just had Layla to the vet for her first visit, and she should hopefully be getting her spay in the next month. There is an *adorable* baby french lop that I’d like to adopt. However, he’s male – but neutered.

Are there any big concerns about this? Can they live in the same cage (after bonding that is). Both should be fixed so I hopefully don’t have to worry about unexpected bunnies, haha. Thanks!

Well a French Lop is going to get very large so a cage is not going to work for him. He will need either free range or a large puppy pen.

Once they are bonded they should not be separated.

            Hello msarro :o)

I live in Bedford, PA which is only like 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. east of Pittsburgh !!  You are the first person here, that I know of, that lives that close to me !

            I just think that’s so cool :o))

Cage isn’t that big of an issue for a big bun I don’t think…

Think thats big enough for the both of them?

I don’t plan to separate them ever once I have both. The french lop is still just a baby and I have a smaller cage that I can house him in until he and Layla have had some one on one time to get acquainted. I plan to house them together. The cage has quite a few more toys now, as well as a proper litterbox to replace the towel and small one.

that condo should be large enough, provided they get at least 3 hours out of cage exercise time per day. like you said, they’d need to be hosued separately until at least one month after Layla’s spay. at that point you can start bonding and switching them betw/ the cages each night. this prevents them from getting overly territorial. for more info on the actual bonding process, please read thru some of the threads in the bonding forum.

It’s a concrete forming tube. You can get them at your local home depot, or lowes

Also, the hole in the top of it is for when they know its time to go to the vet and decide to hide! It comes in extremely useful.

                          Hey there !  *waving*

Oh !  Screech is a Jersey Wooly (Screech is the name on his pedigree, but we renamed him Zeus)…..the picture in my Bio is Sid, a New Zealand/Dutch mix (we think) and my Avatar pic is Weasley (from the Harry Potter movies), a Red English Angora

Yeah, Sid grew up to be a pretty big boy !  He was originally my sons’ bun but I think he grew tired of all the work having a bunny entailed, so we got Sid as a Christmas gift last year.  It was the best Christmas present we could’ve ever received

Btw…….LOVE that condo !  I don’t see any problem housing 2 buns in there ;o)

I think it’s so neat how you have that concrete forming tube as a kind of “bridge” to the other side

My only concern with that cage is that second main level.  The one in the center, it doesn’t look like there’s that many inches between for them to jump..my one bun is 7lbs and he NEEDS that full 14 inches of space to jump from level to level and even then sometimes he seems to get his leg kind of stuck..like it bangs if he jumps weird.

He’s a mini lop so I’d imagine a french lop full grown might have problems trying to get through..  that’d be easily fixed though if it was a problem it’d just have to be reconfigured a little

How big do french lops get anyway?

Yea I’m thinking a bunny that size is going to need some more open areas to run around in and more space to jump from level to level.  Can that cage be added on to to allow the new bunny more space?  That bunny looks pretty massive lol.

Well, that’s a prize winning bun so its a rarity. However its just a matter of adding another layer on and replacing the roof on it. I’d probably be able to make the modification for about 14$
