Today was Fantastic I started litter training (cause my mom grounded me cause she was Pooping in my room ) But I didn’t have a litterpan so I used a box that had no top cut a hole in it and for now its holding up. I caught her starting to pee so I put her in the box and since them I only found Eleven stray poos (yes I counted them) I am SOOO Happy…. and she isn’t spayed.

              http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/litter.html

pressed paper pellets, carefresh, yesterday’s news, aspen are all good.  you want something that is absorbent and will control odor, esp. before she is spayed.  look in the small animals section for litter until you become more comfortable with what you can and cannot use.  no wood shavings, no clay/clumping cat litter, no corn cob.  the link has more specifics.

for a litterbox, you can get a regular rectangle cat litterbox, make sure it is big enough for the bunny to sit comfortably and even lay down.

Yesterdays News makes cat and rabbit and ferret versions of their litter. I started out using the rabbit version, but the bags are small and expensive. I switched over to the cat version which, again, is cheaper and in a bigger bag, and have found no difference. It’s in the cat section of the petstore.

Everybody correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t “regular” kitty litter not-so-good because buns tend to eat their litter, and regular cat litter isn’t ok for buns to ingest?

Yesterday’s News is made of newspaper which is printed with vegetable-based ink so it’s ok if the buns eat a bit of it…

I just saw CareFresh litter in bulk for a good price at a feed store…  You might try looking up feedstores in addition to pet stores.  Why were you looking at kitty litters?  Is it a price issue, or an availability issue?

Continued congrats on your lovely bun, btw!

well it’s both and no we weren’t looking at kitty litters we have four cats and thank goodness they are all afraid of her since when she was out (b4 I got her) she attacked 3 of them… … lol seriously now if willow goes near calye, calye growls and runs for her life, but willow and the chihuahua get along well.

Now I’m imagining your little pseudo-wild bunny cuddling with a chihuahua and chasing off a cat! Awesome!

I would do a google-search for feed-stores and see if they have any better deals than petstores. I’m partial to Yesterdays News myself, but I know there are other options out there… Someone recently mentioned something that was a totally foreign concept to me…something like “stove chips”? Someone help me out here… They mentioned it was really cheap…

if the feed store has horse bedding, you can use that too, and it’s usually very very cheap, 6-8 bucks for a 40 lb bag. that much could last you for 3 months.
