I have three buns, so I’ll answer three times:

Curly Sue – she thumps at us at least 5 times a day
DJ – he’s thumped twice in the whole time we’ve had him
Deanna – probably on the order of once every couple of weeks.

Edward thumps at leat a few times a week, for various reasons but usually to show his displeasure with some one or something. He thumped at me last night to let me know I’d left the patio door open! He’d make a great gaurd bun if he was bigger than 5lbs and not such a chicken!
I have never heard Josephine thump at all. She’s like Binkybunny’s lop- when something upsets her her ear go up (she’s a holland lop) and she put herself in the smallest place she can find! I have a cute photo of her trying to blend in with a laptop bag! I’ll have to try to put it on when I find it!

My buns thump at me when I cook or when I come over to their cage with a big sweater on, or a towel on my head, I think they think I ama big predator coming to get them!  They thump at my boyfriend alllllll the time because he is about 1 foot taller than me, they don’t like tall people when they are used to short me!

Pookie thumps at me every now and then when she is afraid she will be picked up.

Carrera only thumps at vet times when we are trying to put her in her carrier

are thumps good or bad? mine thumps when i let her out to play. there are carpets under her so i figure its cuz of the noise. or she is just overly excited to go out and play.

Jack is the thumper, though Rucy will do it occasionally.  Usually they will do it if I startle them, or if I’m sneaking around the corner trying to be quiet and just peek in on them.  If they notice me "sneaking" they’ll thump.  Rabbits get used to our shape, our size, even our walk, and if we deviate from that, they may not recognize us right away and thump.

xliddobunnyx –  Usually thumps are meant to warn, to show anger, and fear.  Maybe she’s just feeling a bit insecure when she first gets out before she settles into playtime.

Bunjaya is the only one of my three that really thumps…And she only does it when I put her back in the cage, or when Daddy is trying to clean the cage and she doesn’t want to get out.

None of my three bunnies thumps very often. But if Pandora somehow manages to sneak upstairs she always hides under the bed and thumps! It always makes us laugh since we wonder why she hides under the bed if it spooks her.

mine only thumps when i tell her no… like a toddler throwing a tantrum. it’s like once a week when she’s running through my apartment. now i agree with the previous post too… if she gets under a bed, she hangs out and thumps. don’t know why!

Brian doesn’t thump much either. In our old flat he would thump at certain lorries heard in the distance, and the rumbling snores of the sleeping beast next to me in bed. Haven’t heard him thump since, now he just goes under the bed, holds the middle of the thick cardboard tube down and grabs an end with his teeth, pulls it up and lets it go. THUMP! Thump! THUMP!!

We have a Netherland Dwarf and he thumps when he is mad at us for leaving. When we get home after work it takes about a half hour for him to quit thumping and finally start lovin up on us.

I do have some on cd at home of how well the bumstar has settled in as he 1) lounges on the rug in front of the tv…and 2) cannot stand to see me comfy on the sofa so jumps up and starts digging at my breastacles (only ever when I wear my pink top i have to add)..He has definitely got a thing for pink… ive had to buy ALL pink pj’s otherwise he gets most upset, sadly i had to bin my fluffy pink slipperboots, which has put him out tremendously (almost as though he’s lost his mate!), and can’t find anyone over her that sells them anymore!!!!!  🙁

It depends, every time I decide to get my rabbit if he’s sleeping under the bed, and I try to fish him out he wont STOP thumping at me.. I guess he gets angry I don’t know lol but he’ll start shooting around the room in super duper attack mode and then just ends up wanting a pet

Cowie thumps occasionally sometimes she’ll be in her cage and just let out a couple thumps but this is pretty rarely. Although, I don’t let her in my bedroom because she immediately goes under the bed and the second she gets under there she starts thumping and grunting and absolutely will not come out. It’s really weird, it’s like she knows shes in trouble. I don’t know my rabbit is insane though, soo… it could just be a part of that.

Sprinkles is a never ending thumper … I think with her thumping its to get attention and affection. She will thump constantly until she gets her morning bikkies (pellets), when I get home from work, when I am standing near her pen … practically any time she can see me she thumps. And then she follows her thump with a little grunt!

Luey generally only thumps when he is running around, particulary when he has his mad half hour running around the lounge chairs. But one time when Sprinkles and Luey had a little meeting together and after I put him back in his pen he thumped constantly for about an hour.

Sprinkles really is such a character!  She has opinions and she finds a way to express them!!  So funny how she thumps until she gets her morning pellets.
What does she like to play with?  Is she a digger, explorer, chewer????  What keeps this strong-willed bunny occupied?

Oh she definitely is a character … She is into everything … Unfortunately, she has dug so many holes in my carpet … luckily mats are good for hiding the holes. She chews my venetian blinds up and will flick them out of her way to get through them. And a digger too … She dug a huge burrow in my garden right down to the copper piping … I reckon I could of sat in there no worries. To her it was a labour of love until my daughter filled it it … boo hoo!

I think she could also climb Mount Everest … she jumps up on the window sills and I mentioned on another board that she loves to climb up walls .. well its kinda jumping up the wall and then would back flip and land on her feet. This was in the name of getting a pet and attention.

Thank god she is not a child … would drive me insane. I would have one foot in the grave already.

I have been putting her outside in the backyard on the weekends (when I am home of course).. she loves to go and explore. She will come and tell me when she wants in though. I have not been out with her at the front yard for a while … thats because I have been slack in not doing my gardening at the front. She is generally pretty good at the front … will not wander far and likes to help me dig out the weeds! LOL.

                                                      i have two bunnies, Nic & Wednesday…

Wednesday thumps constantly; she thumps whem i vacuum, she thumps every time she meets a new person, she thumps at my roommate’s rabbit Sophie who is from the same litter as her. as has been said in at least one reply already, i think she does it for attention, because she will often do it seemingly without provocation. but it does make me wonder if she is unhappy a lot.

Nic however, has never thumped at all (though he has a whole host of other bad habbits).
