Ok I think I’m being way too paranoid but as I was grooming Edson this morning his tummy started gurgling and it felt kinda hard.  He’s eating hay as I write this but after seeing that GI Stasis post I am a little concerned.  I never groom him in the morning so I wonder if it’s just because he had just eaten and had some water when I picked him up and he was just full????? He’s totally loving this new orchard grass I got from Save A Bunny.  Had to introduce that before I go away next week because the sitter is allergic to timothy.  Could it perhaps be the change of hay or did I just catch him when he was full??? Thanks!

Well some gurgling is normal. We all gurgle some. The next time you take Edson to the vet have him/her show you where to feel the stomach and how it should feel – the vet really pushes hard on the stomach area to feel around.

As long as he’s eating and drinking he should be fine.

I felt the same way when I first read this article Knowltons, it scared me. I was glad I read it though.

Yes this is why it’s good to handle them alot-to really get used to how the tummy should feel. Then you’ll definitely know when somethings up…Keep us posted if anything changes Knowltons

so true k&k.  i’ve been handling baby sooo much since her lumpectomy that i realized her tummy got hardish & bloated from time to time.  not a whole lot but enough away from regular doughy that i knew something was up.  fortunately she never stopped eating of pooping at any time.  but theni read here that feeding greens separate from pellets can help… i switched to serving pellets in the am & greens in the pm… and voila!   haven’t felt a tight tummy since!  she has probably always been like that but i never noticed when i wasn’t picking her up daily since she hates being picked up so much.  funny… she doesn’t seem to mind it much now.  either it’s her old age or it’s that i’m more confident at it & swift.  maybe both.

In my experience, the noise level varies by bunny too.  DJ’s tummy gurgles really loudly most of the time.  If you are petting him and he is sitting on your chest, you can hear it.  Seanna and Curly hardly make any noise at all.

I am so relieved to hear that he is diving right into the SAB Orchard hay.  I know that must be a relief for you as you get ready for your vacation.
He sounds like his digestive tract is just on the move if he just powered down some hay, and some bunnies do gurgle more loudly than others. But extra loud gurgling and a tight tummy can be a sign of some health issues. Is he pooping fine?

I think I read that you have a vet appoint scheduled very soon, so that’s good. My motto is always better to be safe than sorry.
