Believe it, it’s true!! I have two buns, one’s a lop named Peanut and the other is a palimino  named daisy. Both female buns not spayed.Daisy is a very easy going bun, where as peanut would always charge right after daisy and the fur would fly!  I really didn’t think they would ever get along. But i read up on bonding by a few different people and incorperated it all….and whala!! It worked! Now both are good friends and love to run around and do binkies together. It was amazing. If anyone wants to know what i did to make this happen just let me know and i’ll post it. Don’t give up, it can happen and you and your buns will finally be happy!

I’m glad to hear you were able to bond your bunnies!
          How old are they?
If they are over 6 months I would really encourage you to spay them. The uterine cancer rates in unspayed females is 85%. Spaying them will help them live happier and healthier lives.

being a resident of San Diego means you are eligible for a $40 rebate from HRS for spaying your bunnies. This is the first kind of program like this in the country. Their website also has bunny vet recommendations.

Hi! Congrats on acheiving a tough bond I agree that it is a good idea to spay them, just because as they get older you wouldn’t want hormones to flair and cause fighting again!

For starters i gathered as much info as i could from different web sites on bonding because i knew it would be hard. My 2 buns had not gotten along and the fur would fly! I made the choice that they didn’t have to like eachother, but they needed to learn get along because being a single mom of a 4 year old, i didn’t have the time to let each bun out one at a time. So i told each bun how it was going to be…LOL

I put a whole bunch of vegies in the bath tub and in went both buns. I had to keep my hand on Peanut, my lop bun the whole time because she really wanted to tear into Daisy who is a Palamino bun. I did this  twice a day for 30 minutes each day, and this lasted for 3 weeks. Then i could take my hand off Peanut and let them eat. Peanut would give Daisy the evil eye and thump a few times but she didn’t charge after Daisy. I also would pet them and rub eachothers sent all over their heads. Then i changed cages with them so they could get used to eachother sent, i did this about 4-5 times. The next thing i did was look to see who was going to be the dominate one, and of course that was going to be Peanut. I ended  up  smearing banana on both their heads just in case, cuse sometimes you never know with buns! So iboth banana heads went in the tub and they both put their heads down to have the other groom them…no luck with that. I desided instead of a car ride to put them in a box and carry them around my apartment. It was soo funny, my little boy would ask "mom, are you shaken your buns again"lol, he’s only 4! So around and around my apartment i would go gently shaken the box the buns were in. I did this a few times and i put them back in the tub with banana on their heads and whala, Daisy started to groom Peanuts head…really just lick off the banana, but Peanut loved it! She just sat their with her eyes closed and took it all in. I then put them in my sons room with lots of vegies and toys. It took awhile for both to come around to eachother, but when that happened Peanut got on top of Daisy and did her little"i am the boss thing" and Daisy was okay with it. Peanut has not groomed Daisy at all, but Daisy will groom Peanut. Then they started doing binkies together and that was so funny! Peanut just spins around really fast, while Daisy runs and jumps over her and leaves skid marks, she’s super fast!!!

So now they share the common space together and  do binkies and get along great! They always greet eachother with a nose poke.

That’s great!!!   Finding the right bonding method usually always includes tons of different tips, along with your own innovations!

I would love to add this to the bonding journal or at least add a few of these tips to the bonding page.  Do you have ANY pictures of the whole "box ride" thing?   Veggies in the bathtub etc etc etc.

You can just never have enough helpful tips when it comes to bonding!

                    I’ll email you.
