Hey all. I cant seem to find for the life of where I last posted. Lol. So if anyone else replied, sorry I didnt get back to ya! So anyways. Onto my question.

So I noticed Rascal having a bit of trouble jumping onto her shelf lately. Before this eye problem, she got up just fine. So im pretty sure its related. I was thinking of modifying the two buns cages. As of right now they still arent officially bonded. I could try,I suppose. What ya think? But in the mean time, I still wanna modify the cage for her safety. Im not sure if ya remember what it looks like. Ill try post a pic if i can find one for yas.

Just to describe for you though, its 3 cubes high by 4 cubes long by 2 cubes wide. Rascals side is 3 cubes long by 3 cubes high by 2 cubes wide with a lower shelf and a top shelf. Binks side is smaller, only 1 cube wide by 3 cubes long by 3 cubes high. he does have two shelves. I know not exactly a great set up for him. he is smaller though,so its not too bad. Just needs extra out time to make up for lack of space. Oh yeah, another thing. I cant completely dissamble the cage as i have my guinea pigs in a cube cage ontop of the bunnies cage lol.

Onto my idea. dunno if it will be suitable or not though. I dont have room to expand their cage any longer or higher. As then i wouldnt be able to reach my pigs lol(if i went higher)!  So the thought was to finish off the top shelf on Rascals side, open it up to Binkys side. Give Rascal 2 cubes high by 4 cubes long by 2 cubes wide. Just giving her the bottom to roam. Then on Binks side,he would have the whole top which would be only 1 cube high by 2 cubes wide by 4 cubes long. Plus the front part that sticks out,(that makes it 3 cubes long (have i confused you yet? I sure am) anyways, make a shelf on the front part there that would allow him to jump up to his top full shelf and out again.

If that makes any sense at all to you, what do you think lol? I would go x-pen,but i simply dont have room. Well, i could be i dunno what id do with my piggies then lol. So that doesnt really work. I mean this looks good in my head. But not sure how itll turn out. Plus id have to put the buns somewhere while I work. Hmmmm. Lol. Lemme re-read this now. Hopefully i can make some sense of it. Eh i think its okay enough for yas to understand. I hope. Ill look for a pic too,so you can have a visual lol.

hmmm i jsut thought where would his litter box go ugh. Oops. More thinking to do haha. I figure out something. Easy solution would be get more room! But that is not gonna happen,so gotta think otherwise. Lol. Ok off to thinking land again. Lemme know what yas think I could do. Thanks! Ya guys and girls are great.

Hmmm maybe i could just give her something to jump on to get to her shelf. Problem is for some silly reason i have to give her two litter boxes or one really big one,or she will go potty wherever i dont put that box lol. I might try that first before i renovate. I got some boxes that could always be thrown out when she gets it all nasty haha. Ill let ya know how that works out. She seems to be okay going from the lower shelf to the top shelf. Its just getting up to the lower shelf. I dont get it. Maybe its not her eye thats the problem. Hmmm. Well i gonna try this idea out now. Ill let ya know how that goes. I know no one replied yet,but thas okay. I had to tell ya what i thought after reading some other posts. So yeah. Ill catch ya laters again.

I actually liked the ramps in Panic’s rabbit condo see OMG I hate my sister post for a pic.

B/c I feel that the first bunny shelf in my cage is kinda high for Leo, I added a stepping off point.  It started as just a small little platform held up by a small box.  It was about half way b/t the ground and second shelf.  After Leo started spraying the cardboard, I switched over to a plastic igloo.  Mine have 2 litterboxes on the ground floor b/c when I upgraded to the bigger litterbox, it wouldn’t fit in the original preferred potty area (PPA).  So I kept the little one and added the big one.  W. the igloo it is a bit crowded on the ground floor, but it works b/c it’s only used as a potty station and vestibule to the outside.  Hope that helps.

Did we discuss b/f where in SE PA you are?  I think you said near Pittsburgh?  I’m in Philly.

I made square steps the size of a NIC panel about 5-6″ high out of wood and topped with carpet for my two. I also have a ramp as well.

Ok I have an idea…I wonder if I can somehow explain it right though……

That way Rascal could have the bottom but would have that space on the end so that she could stand up right and do her bunny hoppy stuff there..I know Tucker needs part of his cage to have two cubes high…

Then Binks could have two cubes as his floor, then his shelf and have the space to jump and stuff between…

                I hope that makes sense…

That brings up a good point Tucker, my two need two empty panel spaces to jump up because of their large size. Leaving a one-panel space for a bunny to jump up to the next level is not always safe for your rabbit, depending on their size and shyness.

Argh! I hit that back button by accident deleted what i wrote. Lol. Ok lemme try this again. Skunk-Im near philly, out in the suburbs. thanks ill check out that post. Tucker, I like your idea. I may try something to that effect if the step thing doesnt work out. Scarlet-yup i understand buns needing hop room. They should be able to stand up and not whack their heads. Binks is small but just bout as tall if not a bit taller then one cube. So yeah he needs hop room lol. hmm i think thats all i wrote before. Oh yeah, someone mentioned litter boxes. Binks has one litter box and as i mentioned missy messy Rascal needs two. I have a big cat size one with a high back and dish pan.I switch between kinds of boxes, sometimes one big one, sometimes two smaller. Depending on what needs to be cleaned of course! She started going more when Binks came home. Territorial i know, but ya would thought it stop by now. Its been how long? Ah well. Whatever works for my baby girl and boy.

                    Thanks everyone!

Rascal…I live in W. Philly, near UPenn.  My bunny vet is Glenolden Animal Hospital in DE county.

Just another stair idea….Target smaller NIC cube panels for building shoe shelves.  They are about the size of shoebox length panels.  I thought these might be clever for bunny condos.  I like the idea of shared floor space for the bunnies, I’m thinking that way you could maybe have a mutual hay, pellet, water trough.  Let us know how it comes out.
