How do you determine a rabbits color?  I have looked at different websites- and the ones about color and Mini Lops as a breed are typically sites about intentionally breeding.  I have not found these to be very informative at all for determining her color.  I am really more curious than any real need to know.  I had another rabbit owner tell me she was a “shaded”  Mini Lop- but I think shaded refers to her “point color PATTERN” as opposed to her actual shading “color”?

Anyone know of a good site? Or know what color she is?  She is about 6 months old now.  Her nose has gotten a little darker than when we got her at 12 weeks old.  Her nose, paws, ears and feet are colored.  And thru her white fur toward her rump she has some darker hairs that she appears to have gotten more as she gets older.  I wonder if she will continue to get darker as she gets older- like a Siamese cat?

I think she’s a type of sable point.

Yup. I’m going with cream coloured sable. But I have no literal knowledge, I just looked at her – it’s definitely “sable” markings, darker feet, ears, tail….and she’s cream. So she’s a cream-coloured sable! Yeah, that’s it!

I think they are called “Points” because it is the parts of the body that become points or tips: ears, nose, feet & tail.

I grew up with a couple of Seal Point Siamese cats (Ping & Pong) they had dark brown bodies, black “points”, blue eyes, and round – not pointy – heads. They were so beautiful. I have always loved that coloring!

Oh Sage! You just got me thinking about my seal point Siamese, whom I had for 10 years! She was a gorgeous kitty and I went and ‘ruined’ her by giving her a bath (hey she got all dirty and I didn’t want my mum screaming at her for bringing soot into the house) and after that her beautiful cream flanks turned all brown. My mum blamed me because the water and the sun had ‘tanned’ her. She’d been purebred and this ruined her for show.
She was the best cat! She used to come to the end of the road everyday at 3:30 when she knew I’d be walking home from the bus stop. Since school was miserable for me, I was usually crying and she’d follow me into my room and lick the tears off my face.

This was one of the things that really drew me to Mimzy, because although he is a bunny with all brown fur and just has darker ‘points’ on his face, ears and paws, he kind of reminds me of that cat. ^_^
