  I’m finishing up my rabbit hutch/cage (it’s pretty big and will have a smaller hutch inside of it) and I’m looking for 2 bunnies. I live in Bakersfield Calif. I’ve searched local rescues but they only seem to have dogs or cats. Can someone please help me find bunnies around Bakersfield Cali? The breed and sex doesn’t matter. I’d just love to have 2 bunnies!

  The best way to find adoptables near you is to go to petfinder.com and enter your zip code. You can select rabbits as your search criteria, and it will show you available bunnies in your area. Good Luck!

  Petfinder lists animals that are available in shelters and rescues. Each group has their own adoption policies, so you pay them the adoption fee, not petfinder. The page describing the shelter or rescue should have the adoption fee listed.
  
  Another place you could look to find available bunnies is Craig’s List.

  bunnies are not as widespread as cats and dogs, but there are many still needing a home. i think a 2 hour drive is not unreasonable.

  Yes, the rescue I help at has had people drive 2, 3, 4 hours to adopt a rescued rabbit.
  
  Our adoption fee helps cover the cost of the spay/neuter.

  I’d visit your local shelter and if they don’t have any rabbits at the moment, tell them you are interested in adopting some and if they should get any in, to give you a call. Before long all of the impulse Easter Pet Rabbit buyers out there will be expressing remorse and turning those poor bunnies in to the shelters so expect some soon.
  
  Craigslist is also another good option.
