This Saturday my new bunny is arriving!! I had been looking for a companion for Aftias and some days ago i found a girl through the net that wanted to give away her bunny because of a family situation! She lives with her family, but was not ready for any pet, as her parents really did not ever want to have any pet in the house! But some friends gave her the bunny as a christmas present! She loves this little thing sooo much but really cannot keep him! And i wanted a 2nd bunny, but right now i just couldn’t afford new cages and accessories (don’t worry, my family can support me in case the rabbits need medical attention!)! So, this Saturday she is coming over with the bunny, his new huge cage and all his things and toys! He is a male, 3 month-old, half-cottontail, brown bunny, and i hope that he is going to fit in well in my house with Aftias! I do not have any pics for the time being, but i will post some as soon as he settles! I am so nervous! I am really eager to see him!

That’s something i worry about! I am not sure if they are going to like each other! Aftias is very sociable with people, but i don’t know how he’s going to react to a new bunny! Anyway i keep my fingers crossed they like each other!

The shelter I work with has some boy with boy pairs, and I know two boys can definitely get along, but I have heard that it takes a bit longer than with girl to boy pairs.  Also, be very prepared for all of their first meetings, because the first time I introduced my two boys, they got in a scuffle (only person that got wounded though was my BF haha).  I know there are lots of tips online for bonding bunnies, and I would def. read all of those so that you are prepared!!

              Good luck !

ooo how exciting! i really hope it will go well. pairing two boys that are not littermates is likely to be difficult. i’d recommend getting the new bunny neutered as soon as he’s old enough, since young unneutered boys tend to be pretty humpy.

My advice is goooo slowwww!  Introduce in only a very neutral territory.   Even the bathtub (with a towel on the bottom) if you have to.

                  I’m so excited for you!

Thank you so much all of you guys! I definately have a lot of studying over bonding to do, but it is woth it all the way! Unfortunately they are both too young to get neutered, but they will as soon as the time comes! Anyway, they both have pretty big cages will all their stuff and toys, and my house is pretty big for two bunnies, just in case they do not get along! The girl that is going to give me the bunny will stay in my house for a couple of days, so that the new bunny gets more easily used to the new surroundings! But i would like to hear your opinion about this: We are planning their first meeting outside of the house, in the place i walk Aftias with the leash! It is definately neutral territory and there are many other interesting things that can distract their attention from each other! So, what do you think?
