My rabbits have a few different sounds they make and i was curious to see if anyone else’s rabbits make noise.

About a year after we had Carrera it was like she suddenly realized she could make sounds. The first sounds she made was grunting sounds when she was getting fed and growling sounds if we did something she didnt like. The only other noise i have ever heard out of her is a little squeak followed by a thump when she gets on the couch with us.

Pookie, my little dwarf, just realized a few months ago she could make noise. She grunts every once in awhile usually in regards to us doing something she doesnt like. She also makes a little high pitched sqeaky sound when she gets picked up and doesnt want to be.

Any other rabbits out there make noise?

Rabbits grunt, growl, huff, squeek, honk and even oink!  So funny!  When I tell people that they make noise, many are amazed.  We are actually building an audio section in the gallery.

It’s very very small right now, but you can hear "happy" noise of one bunny, and snoring of another.    (right now, when you click on the audio, it will just take you to the outside link where it’s located. In the future in will be imbedded onto our site.)

My bunny Boo when she is really happy makes a cooing sound like a pigeon. The first time i herd it i totally panicked. Enough to call the emergency vet because I thought she was choking or she couldnt breathe properly. Mom rabbits sometimes do this when they are nursing but some do it when they are really happy and content she does this for hours sometimes. Here is a link to a rabbit cooing

Like your bunnies she grunts when I do something she doesnt like. she used to also make a oinking buzzing sound whenever she was in the mood for love before i had her spayed. But she rarely does this anymore.

Her mate Rolo makes buzzing noises whenever the greet each other. Its so cute.

Rabbist also make a tooth purring its a low grinding noise made by their teeth. They do this when they are enjoying being petted.

Hareiette oinks and grunts fairly often. She’s a major attitude girl and also will go fisticuffs on us or her bunny siblings if we tick her off. I like how fiesty she is though, it makes life much more interesting living with a princess.

Other than the occasional tooth purring or cooing when she’s really happy, or grunting and thumping when she is ticked off, Sophie is mute. The only time I have ever heard her make any substantial noise is back in December when she was very sick and was groaning in pain… I pray to God that I never hear that noise again…

My boy bunny Kramer likes to make noise when he wants Juli to play with him.  She will be laying down for a snooze and then Kramer will start pawing at bum and making this noise kind of like a higher pitched grunt.  She will then get very annoyed and run away and he will chase her until she gets up on the second floor of her condo.  As soon as she gets back down though he starts harassing her again! My rescue friend said it might be Kramer trying to court her…but she doesn’t seem to be enjoying it! This only happens once or twice a day tho, the rest of the time they snuggle and sleep together…noise free

My bunny barks at my b’/f a lot.  He smokes and i dont think that he likes the smell of the smoke.  Bunny only barks at me if i get him mad, like make him go back to  bed or take away something that he shouldnt be chewing on…  he is so cute!!

My daughter’s bunny, White Chocolate, growls a lot when we do something she doesn’t like.
Our Hazel is much quieter, but she’ll huff when we pick her up too much, and especially after cleaning her bottom.
She also makes little grunting noises sometimes when we snuggle and pet, I used to think she was burping when she did it.

medusa grunts when she is running fast or jumping

when she is angry and thumps sometimes she’ll accompany the thumps with a sassy “mergh” hiss

Aftias is mostly a very silent bunny! The only sound he makes is when he purrs while i groom him and he snores when he gets scared!

                              poopy,

yes that was very helpful for  me to understand, my bunny kicks his back feet at me, but the interesting thing is that if you kick you feet back the rabbit would understand that he pissed you off.  i read that on a different web site, i am tryng to find it again, when i do i will post it..

hm…i’m not sure how to kick my feet back. it’s kind of hard since we only walk on 2 feet but i’ll try it sometime

You don’t have to kick both feet back! Bunnies get the message even if you just “sweep” your feet on the floor while walking away! It is very funny because when i do it Aftias will always come and stand in front of me with that “what did i do wrong?” look!

Luna the lop, this is a very old thread and we ask members not to revive old threads, because that could create confusion =). Feel free to start a new thread on the same subject if you like, the sounds bunnies make is always an interesting topic!

                                        I’m locking this thread now.
