Hello everybun! I was just wondering if it is possible for my rabbits to get bonded by being housed next to each other? I’m wondering because I have 2 bunnies that aren’t fixed yet (but have appointments made) that are housed next to each other and I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that they are drawn to each other. They both lay on the side of their cage closest to the other and “mirror” each other constantly. My female, Lola, has a vet appointment to get her nails clipped and I know you cant separate bonded pairs. So I’m just wondering if its possible?

no, it’s not. How they act in their cages can be very different to how they act when you finally introduce them face to face and how they will be when they’re in long sessions with each other. They’re not bonded.

My boys have been side by side their whole lives (2 years), and have always loved hanging out with each other, separated by the barrier of the bars, but when they’re out and about together during a session it’s a very different story. They can become annoyed with each other or they can love all over each other, and sometimes they do indeed fight. None of this would be considered bonded pair behavior.

Well, that’s definitely relieving!!! I’m planning on bonding them once they are both fixed, but I’m definitely not ready for that yet! Thanks!
