Not eating cecals, even with simple diet

  Every morning for the past few days, I wake up and there’s at least one (sometimes two or three) big ol uneaten cecal pellet in Lily’s pen, always in about the same place. When I look up advice, everywhere says to increase fiber and cut down on richer stuff, but I really haven’t given her much besides timothy hay since I noticed the problem, and it doesn’t seem to be helping. Is there anything I’m missing here?
  
  Her behavior is pretty much the same, except it does seem like she’s been chewing on wood and cardboard more than normal, which does sort of make me wonder if she’s not processing the fiber right or something.

  Chewing more on cardboard and wood could mean theres a dental issue. The GI tract starts with the teeth, and if a bun isn’t chewing it’s food in the proper way, tummy upsetness can follow. You could have a vet check her molars for spurs. As you know, molar spurs are common in rabbits and can be an effect of (normal) ageing.
  
  It’s excellent that you mostly give her hay now. Eating lots of hay could also help her teeth if there are small spurs. My Bam’s teeth got so much better when I started giving him fresh grass every day (he refused hay) that he ended up not needing a dental burr.
  
  A probiotic can sometimes help with excess cecotropes. Several BBers use Benebac, it’s suitable for rabbits.

  Thanks Bam, I’ll look into those. We’re kind of due for a vet check anyway.
