I’m hoping I could get some advice here!
To make a VERY LONG story short, my 3 year old Lop Toby and my adult (maybe 1-3 year old) dwarf Boo both had what seemed to be gas in the same week, I gave them gas drops and all was fine. I switched brands of spring mix so I immediately threw that out. My buns always have water always have hay get a small scoop of the same pellet brand they’ve had since Toby was a baby and a mixture of lettuce or a tiny bit of kale on occasion. Last week Toby got bloat and passed away. All I have left is Boo. I haven’t changed a single thing, hay is still the same, pellets and brand are still the same, and greens are still the same. Today, Boo is doing that hunched back, flopping, upset gas belly thing. I gave her drops but I suspect something is up with all these symptoms and I am at a loss.
What diets do you guys usually feed your buns? Specifically what kinds of greens have you found to be friendly on their bellies because these constant scares are going to be the death of me. Any sign of gas I now panic. Is it common for them to have gassy bellies? Anyone else have chronic gassy babies?

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Toby.

Some bunnies are susceptible to gas. One member @sarahthegemini now has her bunnies on a totally veg-free diet, as they had constantly gurgling tums when they were given veg.

Kale can cause gas in some bunnies, so I would cut that out for now. In fact, I would cut out all veg for a couple of weeks and just feed hay and a small amount of pellets and see how she does. You can slowly reintroduce greens like you would with a young bunny and identify if there’s something specific that sets her off. She could also have gone off her food because she’s missing her partner if they were bonded – it’s not uncommon for buns to take the death of a partner quite hard.

If she’s hunched, not eating and not pooping, it’s worth a vet visit.
