I recently rehomed zeus a neutered male and daisy unspayed. I was going to get her fixed but we found out we were moving and couldn’t take them both. I gave them up to a woman and her family on sunday. My heart still aches for my first rabbit zeus. Would it be possible that they would be ok if separated? Theyve been living together for 6 months with no problems. So im unsure if this qualifies as a bond. A part of me wants to try to get zeus back because he was my first and i got him during a hard time in my life when i needed him most. It hurt me to have to rehome them since i couldnt take them.
Did i do the right thing by rehoming them together? I dont want to regret not trying to take just zeus with me, but theyve been living together despite daisy being unfixed.

It’s very cruel to separate bonded bunnies, they can often get sick from the distress of losing their best friend. That said, an unspayed bunny shouldn’t really be living with another bunny. If they have been safely and happily living together for 6 months, then they are probably bonded.
It’s also not fair on the family that you gave them to to ask for one back.

Id say you’ve done the right thing by letting them be rehomed as a pair.
Rabbits can be bonded even if one of them is not spayed. Normally you’ll see the unnuetered rabbit will have more hormonal tendancies which can bug another rabbit, but there are plenty of examples of bonded pairs with only one member being fixed for a lot of reasons(usually medical)
That said itd be good for daisy to be neutered due to the risk of cancer.

I have seen how distressed rabbits can get when seperated from a paetner, and it can lead to very serious illness (stasis etc)
It would probably be difficult to get them back off of the family you’ve given them too now as well unfortunately.
Its such a hard thing to have to give up your babies, and im sorry you’ve had to go through it, but i do think you’ve made the right decision for them
