If this question has been asked, I apologize but the search bar seems to be down for maintenance right now and I would like an answer as quick as possible to make sure I am doing the right thing for my bunnies at an early stage.

Earlier today I got 2 female mini rex”s. They are 3 months old. Before coming home today they were in the same bunny pen with their other siblings and they all seemed friendly with each other. The goal is to hopefully have them bonded after being spayed and separated while recovering. But I have researched and found some mixed responses about what I should do in the meantime.

Until they are both ready to be spayed should I keep them in their own separate areas? But still be close to each other as long as they aren’t close enough to bite each other? Would this give them a better chance of possibly bonding later and/or not fighting until then? Or can I still keep them housed together until they’re spayed?

Hi and congrats! We’d love to see pictures!

A lot of people don’t know this but you can actually just google your question and Binky bunny will pop up with threads if the question has been answered before.

Please separate them ASAP. It’s very hard to sex buns at this age and you could have a boy and girl ok your hands. You can have them in separate pens and have them live within 6 inches or more of eachother so they can still see and smell eachother but just can’t touch eachother. Then after they are fixed, wait until the hormones die down( usually a month) and then you can start prebonding!

            Yep, agree with BH

Separate now, but have them be neighbors. Even if they are both female, they might start fighting when hormones kick in, which can make bonding more challenging, so best to separate now so it’s all good feelings towards each other.
