Hi so it’s been a week since nemo got neutered and he’s ALWAYS pooping and peeing on my bed, I put an extra cover over just so I could keep mine clean-ish since I just washed it. Is this going to fix itself or what? I’m so stressed about it because he loves jumping up on my bed during both the day and night. not so nice waking up with poop and pee all over your duvet. Can someone please help? I don’t want to spend like 30 dollars buying waterproof duvet cover from a swedish store. it’s less expensive on eBay and Amazon but I have to pay like 40 extra for shipping then. I’d like to add that he won’t let me carry him so I can’t carry him off the bed when I at least see it’s about to happen. I just try and guide him off but he keeps getting on.

Following a neuter, there is a post-neuter hormonal spike, which ramps up hormonal behaviors, such as marking. Inconvenient, I know. It can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months from what I’ve heard.

Do you have a spare shower curtain or something you can cover your bed with for the next month? Making it less comfortable may dissuade peeing on it.

Another method is also placing a litter box on your bed, so perhaps rather than picking him up, sort of pushing him to the box before it happens.

I don’t have any shower curtains ): but what kind of litter box? He does most of the damage when I’m not in the room or I’m asleep so I can’t really do much then. Is there anything else I could cover it with because I can’t think of anything we have that could be uncomfortable over the bed. I only chose to put an extra cover over because it’s thick and won’t leak through to my usual bedding

You could buy painters tarp — super cheap, and honestly I think it’s a good, cheap investment for rabbit ownership. You can cut out HUGE pieces to line a floor, line a cage wall to prevent bar pulling, and it makes a very wipe-able surface. You could also just break down some cardboard boxes and pile them on the bed.

And any type of litter box is fine, as long as your rabbit can get into it while on the bed!

Is it possible to close the bedroom when you’re not in there to prevent it from happening?
