Im having a bit of a panic, i walk into the room i have my rabbit in and he’s acting very strange, (usualy when i walk in he runs around and then waits to be pet, fed, or play etc) but he was just sitting hunched in the corner and one of his eyes were watering, i looked up what to do and cleaned the eye that was watering gently and he hasnt cried since and ive gotten him to eat but he’s still hunched in the corner and it putting his head on the wall, idk if he is now trying to sleep or whay but im very scared, ive never had to take him to the vet before(we have someone in my family that works with animals and ive always been terrified of going) but now i dont know if i should or if hes just fine
Update: ive been out for a few hours and he hasnt moved and he hasnt pooped and he keeps leaning his head to the right and i dont know if its classified as tilt

That sounds like a case for the vet. Anytime your bunny is acting unusual you should get him checked out. Bunnies often sit hunched when they are in pain. Things like GI stasis can progress rapidly so my advice is vet asap.

              Hello

He doesnt sound fine. This doesnt sound good at all. I would really get him to a vet asap, preferably one that is rabbit savvy.

Best wishes, I hope he is ok.

Yes definitely agree with a vet visit, you just need to take bunny, a small handful of hay in the carrier in case he wants to nibble on something and that’s it. No need to bring anything else unless your vet asks you. Let us know what the vet says.

My dad has raised bunnies before and keeps saying let him better on his own which isnt how this works, and my mom will only drive to one thats near us but the closest one is 25 min away and they are booked until next friday but they have walk ins until Tuesday morning but they are packed, but theres another one thats a little farther but sounds more reliable but again both of these are too far and the ones near us only take dogs and cats and idk what to do, ive gotten him to eat a bit but he hasnt pooped since yesterday morning or maybe even longer than that, he doesnt move in his cage and he is only turning his head to the left (it doesnt look like a head tilt but still worried) i checked for sores on the bottom of his feet and maybe thats whats wrong but no nothing, his nose isnt as wet anymore and after i cleaned the one eye that was wet is hasnt watered up since then so i think thats a plus, but i think he somehow might’ve hurt his paw because he has a slight limp but i dont know what he could have done to do that, overall he hasnt pooped since yesterday, wont move, barely eats and drinks, and will only turn his head straight or to the left

Is he putting his chin up? That could mean he has difficulty breathing. It is good that his eye has stayed dry. Head tilting/balance issues can be due to an ear-infection. The other common cause is e cuniculi. E cuniculi is a parasite that lives inside cells, so it’s microscopic. It can cause inflammation in brain tissue and give rise to many different neurological signs. Your bun does need to see a vet. Antibiotics will help if it’s airway/ear-infection (the bun’s mouth and nose and eyes and lungs and ears are physically connected, just like they are in humans). If its e cuniculi, a deworming med called Panacur plus possisbly antibiotics is standard treatment. It is of course important to get him started on meds as soon as you can.

You should try to make him eat, if he won’t, you’ll need to syringe feed him. You can use soaked pellets that you mix to a runny mush with water or something he likes, like banana or apple sauce. You can massage his tummy very lightly like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnuxGLa2reg make sure he is kept warm, but not too warm. Poorly rabbits can get hypothermic, meaning they get cold “from the inside”. You can give him a warm waterbottle or hand warmers wrapped in a towel, but he must have room enough to move away from the heat.

Your dad probably doesn’t view rabbits exactly like you do. It’s different when you have a rabbit that is your friend.

Thank you and no he’s actually tilting his head down, he seems to be falling alseep and then will wake up if i call his name , and yes i have only been syringe feeding him , i crushed his pellets and mixed it with water and he did eat some of it, he also ate the lettuce but only if i was holding it, i also let him out in my living room to see if running would help and it seemed to help a little but then he just stood in place again, he bows his head down whenever he wants to be pet so i did to try and comfort him
I dont know if this has anything to do with it but hes 7 1/2 roughly (thats how long ive had him they didn’t tell me his age exactly) but my parents keep insisting it might just be because hes old but i don’t believe that, idk if his age really does have anything to do with it but

Try to talk to your parents into bringing him to the vet. This is most likely not something that can go away by it’s own. He could be in a lot of pain.

7 1/2 is a senior but not necessarily old. My oldest bunny lived to be 11.

For goodness sake, he needs a vet. Failing to take him is completely unacceptable.

Thank you to those who read the WHOLE situation and helped me, i was able to find him the best and he is now on medication, he has a good chance as long as he eats all his food to keep his energy up and takes his daily medicine
Though i still ask that you keep him in your thoughts/prayers (whatever you believe/or dont) it would mean a lot,
Now that i have a vet i can trust i wont have to delay and i can now take him right away if anything else happens
                                Thank you so much
                                From me and Kibu <3
