Does anyone know a cheap and safe way to get/make DIY imprints of dogs and rabbits?

Yes, exactly. Sorry for not being clear beforehand.

No problem! I know michaels has sold pawprint making kits for ornaments in the past. Also amazon should have something too.

You can use children’s fingerpaint or body paint if your making colored pawprints, those colors are non-toxic. Clay is very good for dog paw prints. Here’s two I made of my dogs’ paws:

These were made in stoneware clay and raku fired, but there are plastic clays you can fire in a normal kitchen oven.
