I have two Holland lops, Bun who is the male and is at least two years old, and Babe who is the female and is 5 months old. I brought Babe home at 8 weeks old and bonding went very smoothly and up until about a month ago they loved each other. Now Babe keeps attacking him and so they’ve been separated. Bun is neutered and Babe was spayed a little over a week ago. I’m hoping having her spayed will solve the problem. How long should I wait before reintroducing them? Is there any hope that they can be rebonded?

I would wait a few weeks so she has time to settle down and they both have time to “forget” about the unpleasantness. I don’t think it is a lost cause, but remember not to rush into anything when trying to reintroduce them. See how things go, but you may have to treat them as if they are strangers meeting for the first time.

            Sorry I missed this!

It can take several weeks for female hormones to settle after being spayed, and I think they take at least 3 weeks to heal. It is quite normal that they started fighting since they were put together so young, before she hit puberty.

I would wait a full 6 weeks after her spay, then start doing pre-bonding cage swaps. Then go through the bonding process from the beginning and see how they do. I think since the fighting was due to hormones (and they might not have really been properly bonded from the start), if you take it slow, you have a good chance at re-bonding them. But it very well might take some work, so be patient.
