My rabbit keeps biting his fur off his 2 back feet to the point that there are large red bald patches and sometimes open wounds, I regularly cut his nails, change his litter tray etc he is a house rabbit with his own room and plenty of different flooring surfaces he also has access.to the whole house but prefers his room 70% of the time. He has plenty of toys And hay. I have been to the vet several times they have given him spot treatment and antibiotics about 4 times and no result. I have been puting sudocrem on his feet but he just wants to lick this off too I fear it’s making them worse. Does anyone have any options I can tried as have been to 2 different vets and no results

I’m very sorry to hear about your bunny’s health issues. Are you sure that he’s biting the fur off and that it isn’t sore hocks and he’s just trying to groom the sore spots? What sort of flooring surfaces do you have? Lots of soft flooring could help like padded bath mats or memory foam mats with fleece over the top. If you have carpet that can be quite abrasive to their feet.

In regards to treatment, it sounds quite serious so it could be worth padding the wound and then wrapping the feet with very wrap to stop him licking off the cream, something to perhaps discuss with your vet.

Thank you for the quick reply! I actually think he is licking and not biting now you mention it! I have changed the floor surfaces about 10 times but have never tried memory foam so will give that a shot! I will make another app to see about the padding and wrapping thanks again!
