  Hey all, I’m a new bunny owner and love this site to help answer all the crazy things bunny does.
  This one is new to me though. We have a 3 month old holland lop who is doing well with litter training, socialization, scheduling feeding etc. We have recently granted him living room access outside of his exercise pen. He’s been great, not one dropping on the floor, however , he regularly jumps on the couch (leather) between myself and my wife and poops constantly for about a min, 20-30 drops, then he jumps off.
  Is he marking his spot in our little family? Does the leather do something to him? Being new we find it hillarious chasing after his droppings but I kinda wonder if I should be concerned that he’s actually scared or someth8ng?

  So first is he neutered? If not then that may be the reason why. If he is neutered, then he must associate that couch with his own scent. The best way to stop this is getting rid of his scent on the couch, and then he may notice it’s not marked anymore. I don’t know how to exactly clean leather it can get ruined if you clean it wrong. However, those two are the only things I can think of. I hope everything works out.

  He’s not neutered yet, vet says he’s a bit early. I kinda thought that at first too, but it seemed strange because it’s one very specific spot, and he did it the very first time he was on that spot and only on that spot lol, I guess I’ll just wait a couple weeks until after the big day and see how he is.

  I too think this is marking. Really important places (often in sofas or bed) warrants poop marking if you are a rabbit. Marking poops are often bigger than other poopies. They can also be shiny and smell rather distinctly of onions. The shine and scent come from the scent glands. It’s a strong statement, if you’re a rabbit.
  
  I think I’d try to block him from accessing the sofa until he’s been neutered a copule weeks have passed – just so he doesn’t get into the habit of using the sofa as a toilet. Neutering helps with marking behavior, but it doesn’t help much against strong habits formed, so to speak, and when a rabbit has decided where his toilet is, it’s difficult to convince him otherwise.
