  My 1 1/2 year old neutered bunny has been perfect with the litter box for the past year. I haven’t noticed any accidents in his pen, but tonight when I let him out for his nightly run in the bedroom, he peed in 2 areas. On the bed and in his cardboard castle. This has never happened since he was a baby and I am wondering if I should be concerned? Other than the peeing tonight, he is completely his normal self. The last vet check up he had brought on a bout of stasis, so I am not too keen on taking him to the vet unless it is necessary of course. Thanks for any advice!

  I know in cats, when they pee outside the box it usually means they have a UTI. I know one of my buns peed outside her box a lot and it was a milky yellow and it was a UTI, as she is very sensitive to Calcium so she can’t have any at all. See if he pees on the door and see what color it is. He might have a UTI or he has smelled a new scent in the house so he feels like he needs to mark his territory. And my lop, always goes into statsis when she goes to the vet so I know how you feel. You can try and palpate her tummy and see is anything hurts, then if something does, call the vet and they can tell you what to do.

  If it’s not a UTI, it could also be EC. Bombur has EC that affects his kidneys and whenever he is experiencing a flare up he pees outside the litter box and dribbles a bit. The standard treatment for EC is 28 days on Panacur or Oxibendazole.
