Hello! My rabbit Shadow currently lives in my room and the door is blocked off with a baby gate. In the winter my room is about 62-66 degrees Fahrenheit which seems to be a good temperature for Shadow. Now that it’s summer it gets WAY hotter with little humidity (about 30% humidity). This year has been the hottest one of the hottest years recorded in history. My room temperature during the day is about 80-83 degrees Fahrenheit. Which is hot, I can’t imagine how my rabbit feels because I know I’m hot. I always keep the blinds and windows shut in my room and have a ceiling fan and desktop fan running. But it’s still super hot. I’ve tried using frozen water bottles and bags of ice to cool him down but he refuses to lay against them. I also always have ice cubes in his water hopefully helping him keep cool. I’m very scared he will get heat stroke. Tomorrow I’m going to go get ceramic tiles and I’m hoping he will lay on those and they will stay cool enough for him. The reason I’m also so worried is because I’m leaving for 5 days (I leave Sunday) and my parents will be taking care of him ( I still live at home so my parents can watch him 24/7). I’m still scared if he gets heat stroke they won’t notice and won’t get him to a vet on time and something bad will happen to him. Does anyone have any ideas in how to keep my room and shadow cool? Any ideas will help. Thanks.

A wet cloth or towel over the fan can help loads. My bun also refuses to lay against any of the bottles or tiles I give her, I just make sure that she has plenty of air circulation, and has plenty of shadows to hide in. If your worried about your parents educate them about heatstroke, literally anything you could possibly know about it, and how to get him in a carrier to go the vets etc.
