        hi everyone

I have started to look at pics of dog crates that have been turned in to bunny condos. I plan on turning a old dog crate into a bunny condo for my new baby and wanted to look at some creations to get an idea. the crate will have a x-pen attach so the bun will have more space to run around when he/she is litter trained, as well as free roam when I am home to supervise!

I just wanted to see what everyone has created for their babies! thank you

        P.S. the crate is 42 inch x 30 inches x 28 inches (LxWxH).

hi olliebun!! i’m sure you’ll get some responses soon with some of our members set ups, but I just wanted to pop in & say if you’re looking for inspiration, you could possibly check out Pinterest!! there’s tons of photos on that site with all different kinds of rabbit habitats — that might be a good place to look, just an idea!! sadly I myself am no help to you because my boys have ex-pens as their home base, but I do hope maybe this idea helps you!! good luck with condo-making and with your new bunny!!

thank you! I will do that.
just curious, are NIC panels usually the same size? I see a lot of NIC condos and was wondering how big the panels are since some look smaller than others

you’re very welcome!! & to answer your question, yes i believe the overall size of the NIC grids are basically all the same, at least i would think they would all be the same if your within the same area, i’m from the usa, & all that i’ve seen have been the same size but i can’t speak for other countries!! the only thing you have to watch out for with grids is to make sure the area inside the actual grid squares isn’t too big! I know a while back they were making grids that had big spaces at a certain company, but all the ones i’ve seen in my area stores have always been fine and not too big! but yes I’m almost sure they’re all the same size! you can maybe look some up online and they’ll hopefully list the demensions for you!

I also live in the U.S!

I will look up the dimensions of the panels online and see what I can find, since I am thinking of building a NIC condo in the future. I just wanted to use the dog crate for now since its just sitting in the basement, might as well put it to good use

NIC panels are 14 inches square. They always seem to be the same size so far as I can tell

You can see some pics from the past that people have shared on here.

If you end up opening older thread through the photo, just remember not to post replies in them, as they are no longer current. Some photos you might not see in the threads as the hosting site popular at the time no longer host them . So you’d only be able to see the google images thumbnail version.

I think there may be some dog crate condos in the BUNNY INFO, Habitats section.

Also, here’s a tutorial for putting a shelf in a dog crate: http://www.therabbithouse.com/indoor/dogcrate_shelf.asp

so we decided that our baby will get his very own room!!! the room was originally a sun room when we moved in but quickly became our dogs room. when he passed away we simply used it as a storage room and now we decided we will give 90% of it to the new bun!!!( the other 10 % will be blocked due to the cords from lights or small furniture) of course he will also be with the whole family when we are home and supervising.

we are also redesigning the old dog crate into two stories with a ramp and used to help with litter training, serve as home base, and to be used at night. ( although there is nothing to really chew in the room, I still feel more at ease if I know he will be safe and secure)

our baby is 3 weeks old and I can’t wait to bring him home!!
