  I’m thinking about getting my three month old male bunny a friend and I fell in love with an about 1 year old male (he was rescued so his exact age is unknown). I know how to bond bunnies but I’m not sure about if it’s possible or a good idea to try to bond a non-neutered bunny and one thats been neutered. My three month old is okay with my male dog who shares a room with him but they’re different species so I’m not sure.
  
  Does anyone have any advice as to if I should just wait until my three month is neutered and recovered to get him a friend or if it is at all possible to bond these two?

  Absolutely wait until your young rabbit has been neutered. Hormones just change up the interactions and puts both rabbits at risk. Male rabbits can fight pretty badly. Heck, even spayed female rabbits can if not bonded!
  2 neutered males can bond, it does depend a lot on the individual personalities and how much time one is willing to work with them. Neutered male with spayed female is easier, but again, that depends on the individuals.
  
  If you’re really keen to adopt the older rabbit, do you have space to keep him housed separately until you look to work on bonding? Keep in mind, if they don’t bond.you’d be looking at 2 separate habitats for the long term.

  I have the space to keep them separated I just was wondering if the bonding would be possible since I’ve heard of neutered males and nonspayed females bonding so I was curious if it also applied to males. Thanks for clearing that up! I’ll keep them separated until the younger gets neutered.

  I think the neutered male with unspayed female was a common pairing in the past, mainly to prevent babies. Also, rabbit spays were just not commonly done. But now days there are more vets experienced in this. Female rabbits are at high risk of developing uterine tumors and other uterine disorders, so the spay is done to prevent this also.
