Hi all! I wanted to check something. Oxbow timothy and meadow hay mix is fine to feed daily to buns correct? We are currently evacuated from our home due to a wildfire in our region and I wasn’t able to bring much hay with us besides what was in their carrier. I went to the store and this is what they had available. I just wanted to be sure this is fine to feed daily. I just can’t shake the fact that I feel like I read somewhere that it should be more of a treat hay. Either way I’ll be in search of orchard grass or timothy hay here locally over the next day.

It’s actually a very healthy mix (I’m assuming you mean Oxbow Timothy Orchard blend?). Orchard has less calcium and more fiber than Timothy, so it’s a great addition.

Glad you guys are safe. (((vibes)))

You may be confused about alfalfa/lucerne or oat hay. Those should not be the main hay (but if it’s that or no hay at all I would still feed it). Meadow and timothy are fine!

I was confused! A few weeks ago I was looking on small pet select, and I saw they had an orchard medley that had red clover mixed in with alfalfa when you read the ingredients. I somehow got red clover and alfalfa mixed up with meadow hay in my mind. Lol I’m glad they aren’t the same. Thank you for taking time to reply! I’m excited because I think I found the boys’ favorite hay blend now out of this situation.

Oat hay is absolutely fine as a staple hay (along with orchard, timothy, meadow and I believe brome?)

                    Yep.

Even Alfalfa is fine as a treat hay.
