Hi, I’ve been poking around binkybunny for a few weeks now and finally realized there’s a place to introduce myself!

My SO (honey if you’re reading this, hi!) and I got our first rabbit around 3.5 years ago and just recently adopted a second (hence my discovery of this lovely forum- the not ever consistent bonding process). Loved every frustrating minute of being owned by a rabbit.

Bunno #1 is our lovely little black and white Dutchie boy “Cantalop” but more often known as “Lop”. He does not have lop ears as most people assume- but he does have a lop sided saddle (so one shoulder is entirely white the other is entirely black). I also may have misspelled “cantaloupe” as “Cantalop” a few weeks before we got him. With the lop sided saddle the name stuck. He is the spoiled trust fund bunny. He won’t eat his kale stems if they’re too thick, absolutely must play in his hay before he eats it, and I don’t care how big the room is you’ll be in his way somehow. He is also the only time I’ve broken the “adopt don’t shop” rule. The SO was, at the time, employed by one of the big box pet stores when this guy came in and unintentionally they fell in love with each other over a few weeks. Lop would be carried around, grinding his teeth happily, most of the day if there was not a lot of customers. We were considering a pet anyways and I couldn’t blame the rabbit for being a pet store bunny. He came home with us, at around 10 months was fixed, and he’s been a little darling ever since. Around 3.5-4 years old right now.

Bunno #2 is Ms Lorelai the Florida White. She’s approximately the same age as Lop (she was originally rescued from outside so her age is a best guess), also desexed, and the fluffiest marshmallow you ever did meet. She has permanent, but mild, balance issues from a possible e.cuniculi infection (had a full course of treatment for just in case) or possible trauma- again, picked up outside so no one is sure what her history is before that. What we know is that she’s not in pain, she’s not getting worse (been about a year), and it’s nothing she can pass on to other bunnies. Her binkies are the best. It sort of looks like the kid in marching band wearing the sousaphone decided to try and jump up and do a heel click. She’s the most friendly creature I’ve ever met, it takes two whole pets before she’s flat on the floor and grinding her teeth. Her mission in life has become to put her baby ring toys into her water bowl at all costs. Because we’re bonding them right now they’re in side by side cages and occasionally they get flipped. Both xpens have a set of rings and water bowls- but the water bowls are in different spots. Doesn’t matter which one she’s in- the rings end up in the water.

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny! Your bunnies sound like real characters. We’d love to see some pictures of them. I hope that the bonding will go smoothly and quickly.

Welcome to BB! I’m glad you’ve found the forum’s bonding section and general presence helpful as you continue to live with these two lovely family members!

We very much encourage bun bun pics here as well They both sound like wonderful buns with big personalities.

Lop trying to figure out why I’m not petting him, and then one of Lop deciding all the hay needs to be out of the box before he eats it- you can see the split in his saddle.

And Lorelai, probably also thinking about why I’m not petting her. And then a glamorous one with feet kicked out and super chill. She has a very expressive tail- very big and usually tail down. Lop tends to always hold his higher so it’s harder to read his tail.

Thank you all for the compliments and well wishes for the bonding. It’s been good but slow, they’ve been prone to stand offs and tornados so we’re doing frequent short dates for now, also cause the parents are learning too! I’m sure I’ll be posting more in the bonding section looking for advice
