Hey there! This is our first forum on BinkyBunny!  Firstly introductions, this account is actually run by two people (Kai and Sophie) we are getting our first bunny together!

We are so excited! A few days ago I fell in love with a bunny named Cotton at a local animal shelter, but was so sad when we found out we couldn’t adopt him right away! He still had to be neutered until he could come home with us. So for now we are just patiently waiting for a call from the adoption center to let us know we can come take our little baby home!

A little info on our future bunny:
        – Solid white short hair with blue eyes
        – Small/Medium size
        – A little shy
        – 3 years old
        – *** photo of bunny will be updated soon

Any tips for first time bunny owners?

What is your favorite and least favorite thing about having a pet bunny?

Hi Kai & Sophie and welcome to BB!

You’d find a whole lotta info under the BUNNY INFO section of this forum. It pretty much covers the basics of bunny ownership If there are still questions that you have which are not covered there, then feel free to post and ask!

My favourite thing about having a pet bunny is just looking at their little cute faces at the end of a long day and laughing at their antics. Least favourite would probably be cleaning their area (especially after a longgg day or week) and the fact that they are so fragile, exotic animals – it’s so difficult to find the proper supplies and a rabbit savvy vet, especially during emergencies.

Hey Kai & Sophie, Welcome! Glad to meet you and have you as members. Yes BUNNY INFO tab up top, like kurottabun said. It will get you up to speed real quick. And again, as kurottabun said, ask away about anything else if need be. I am looking forward to the pictures of Cotton and hearing about him. It’s wonderful you are adopting the 3 year old. Glad for all of you. No tips from me. But let me tell you…you are in for a treat! Excited for you.

Welcome and congratulations on getting your first bunny! I’m excited to see pictures when you’re able to post them

Something lots of people don’t think about: rabbits are prey animals, which means being picked up can be scary for them! I know when I first got a bunny, I had this idea that I’d carry it around and snuggle it like a puppy…I learned very quickly that my bunnies don’t like that at all. Of course every bunny is different and I’ve heard some are snuggly and almost cat-like… but mine never learned to like being held, and are much happier interacting on the floor. Actually, my super timid rabbit Mimi usually has no interest in humans, but the second you lay down on the floor she’ll crawl on your back and hop all over you!

Like everyone else has said, there’s lots of good information to be found on this site – and if you can’t find the answer to your question, just ask!

                Congrats on your new bunny!

I think the number one thing that you should know about bunnies is how important diet is to healthy buns. Often people (including me when I first had bunnies) think that all they need is a muesli mix and some vegetable scraps, but 90% of their diet needs to be good quality hay, supplemented by a small amount of pellets and a variety of leafy green veg!

My favourite thing is seeing my three snuggling together, and when they get sudden bursts of energy and binky round the room.

My least favourite thing is having hay EVERYWHERE. Honestly, I found some under my desk at work last week.
