I rescued Bun Bun from a family that gave her up in October and she has brought tons of joy since entering our world! In just the short time we have had her, she is now a lap snuggling, goodie beggin bun who just wants to be loved and loved some more. Over the last week, she discovered that she can jump on the sofa and chair in the living room… I have been trying to see where to move my plants since she discovered her back legs are made for jumping but due to limited space and strength (it’s a huge plant) I had not yet moved them to a safer spot. Well, she started nibbling at it and I have read that they are poisonous to rabbits… I have made an appointment to bring her to the vet this evening… but any advice in the hours interim would be so much appreciated! She has been eating her hay and I’m going to watch her carefullly… but I’m kind of freaking out. She also seems to want to get back at the plant! So I’m going to offer her a few more sprigs of parsley to distract her.

Well, here’s an update. First, Bun is fine, thankfully. Secondly, she wouldn’t go to the vet! The second she saw the carrier she bolted and turned into a growling hand slapping ball of fur! I couldn’t believe how burnt up and burnt out I was. I’m sure it was fueled by my worry for her as well as my concerns for my friend’s time as she was trying to take us to the vet…. But Bun Bun won the battle! As soon as I waved the white flag and realized I was simply not going to be able to get my bunny in that carrier, my friend left, and Bun flopped happily on her side on the floor near my feet.

I called Animal Poison Control as well as received advice from the vet, and being that so much time had already passed and Bun was not showing any signs of being ill in any way (guessing because she didn’t get a chance to eat very much) I stayed up most of the night to observe her. By morning she was in the clear of the 18 hour window and just fine! She is continuing to surprise me every day. I’m just so happy that she is ok. Of course, I moved the plant to a room she has not been given access to, yet!

I’m glad to hear she is okay.

You should do some carrier training to get her used to in in case of another emergency. Try giving her treats in the carrier.

Thank You! Yes, that sounds like a great idea… I’m definitely going to buy a much larger carrier as well as that one seemed a bit small, although I was extremely thankful for any help I could get to assist in getting her to the vet…

If she ever needs to go to the vet, she needs to go. You can’t just give up because she’s being difficult…

Yes… thank you… I hope to be better at being mom for the next time… as well as getting a larger carrier and getting her a little more acclimated to it…hopefully she will not have to use it much!
