My idiot brother left a prismacolor pencil ( they are these really fancy colored pencils, and have a lot of pigment in them. This one was black.) and Rain happened to come by and chew the pencil. She chewed on the led part, but luckily not the whole point of pencil. I’m currently keeping her on hay and water to get it out of system as best as I can. I’m going out to get some veggies ( to hydrate and also get it out ) and gas drops in case she stops eating or pooping at all. What else can I do? There’s no emergency rabbit vets in my area. I think it’s a non toxic pencil but I’m not certain. What should I do? I’m so upset right now because he knows that he shouldn’t be leaving things on the floor. I’ve told everyone in my house a thousand times and everyone listens except him.

If it was a small amount, just do as your doing and don’t get too worked up unless rain stops pooping and/or eating. I don’t know about toxicity, but rabbits get their teeth on lots of things they shouldn’t and generally if it was just a small piece, with a healthy diet and gut, it will pass without too much problem.

Oh. Phew. Thank you Wick! I was super anxious. She’s been chewing everything recently, I’m not sure why. I mean, I know it’s natural for them to want to chew, but usually she would stick to her branches and chew toys. But these days she’s just chewing anything in her path. I think she’ll be fine.

It could be because she’s maturing and is becoming more hormonal. Just give her more acceptable and safe things to chew!

Yeah, just keep doing what your doing. If you do notice something wrong, just take her to your regular vet and get her checked out. I would give her some cardboard and apple sticks to chew.

Yes, Wick, EXTREMELY hormonal. Ugh. Luckily she’s gotten back to litter habits. She has off days. I guess that was one of them. No worries, I’m getting her spayed in the summer. Phew.
Yes, ESB, I’m giving her all the apple sticks and cardboard I can, but she just ignores them and chews other things instead. I’m going to spray apple cider on the things she chews on to hopefully get her focused on her sticks.
