So my giant flemmie male Tonne is a huge fan of cleaning his ears. He grooms them all the time. But it appears that he has scratched the inside of his ear. It’s just a small cut close to the base of his ear. Is there something I can put on his cut to keep it clean and healing? What can I do to prevent this? Is it just keeping nails trim? The vet told me they trimmed his nails last Thursday but my husband said he is doubting it as his nails still look very long. Thanks everyone ?

You can use triple antibiotic cream on bunnies. If you use neosporin, choose the one that doesn’t have a painkiller in it.

If the scratch looks good you can just wash it with normal saline (for example eye wash for humans) and pat it dry with a clean piece of a compress or paper.

Prevention is of course more difficult. Can you see any type of irritation on, inside or around his ears? I’m meaning something that could cause him to want to clean his ears all the time. Dandruff-like tiny skin flakes or something like that.

Yes, it looks like his inner ear skin may be flaking. It may just be from his little scab he scratched off though. I’ll have to really look at his ear, it’s right at the base so I have to shine a flashlight in his big old ear ?

Ahhhh! Nutmeg! The male Tonne (as in metric Tonne), is actually my husbands bun! I wanted a bun and he is the one who fell in love with the idea of a giant bunny. I was just the facilitator! Lol he is just so in love with his boy ? It’s the sweetest thing. I would highly recommend Giant flemmies. I am just smitten with the entire breed ? I love my female giant flemmie Kahleigh so much! They both have such HUGE personalities, they are so much fun to be around ?

I bet they have HUGE Poops too hahaha. I was surprised that he surprised me with two bunnies on Valentines day (our rescued senior rabbit passed away the week before that and I was a mess) instead of a giant!
And that is the best name for him ever lol

Lol they definitely do have some huge poops! Lots of them! Oh wow! What a sweet surprise! Yeah my husband picked his name the day we got him, didn’t consider any other name. It was just perfect for him.
