Hello Everyone – I am so glad there is a small space on the web with people like yourselves who understand and can share things like this horrible experience with.

I got my first Bun 7 years ago, but last year we decided it may be best for him if we got him a bunny wife to grow old with. We decided to rescue a bun who needed love and a good home – so after a lot of searching for an older girl, we found Lily!

She had lost her sister before she went into foster care, and after going to see her, from York to Manchester, we fell in love. A few weeks later we brought her home, and started to bond her with our much bigger bun, Bugsy. After a lot of fights and disagreements, a month later, they were totally in love.

Lily was a shy bun at first, curious of us, but much more comfortable being snuggled up to her new man. With a funny little character about her, we fell in love with her even more.

Fast forward 8 months and we are a happy little bun family – but then it started to go down hill. One Sunday morning, she seemed slower, less energy, and not eating. After an emergency vet visit, we had her on antibiotics and syringe food. A few hours later, we lost our beautiful Lily. It all happened so fast, and we were not prepared for the hole in our heart she has left.

Me and my partner are so shocked and distraught by it. We still have our other Bun, who we are giving so much love to so he is ok. The pain we feel though from this loss is so hard on us. I don’t think i have accepted it yet, and i keep thinking she is running around the house, or chilling underneath the sofa. Even though her time with us was so short, it felt like we had her much longer and we didn’t get the chance to say goodbye. Im writing this to hopefully help me heal a little bit, but sharing our gorgeous girl with the people who will understand this horrible pain the most.

        Thank you for reading xx

          Hi OliviaAmy,
I am so sorry for your loss! Thank you for giving Lily a loving home when she was with you! Even though her time with you was brief you gave her the gift of love and companionship she may not have had otherwise! And thank you for providing so much love and care for Bugsy!

So sorry to hear of the loss of Lily. Your pictures are lovely. So glad you were able to give her a lovely home.

I lost my bun in January after almost 10 wonderful years together and I still get very emotional. I put a memorial picture of him on the UK rabbit welfare Association rainbow bridge section as a tribute.

So sorry for your loss binky free sweet Lily x

So sorry you lost little Lily but take comfort in the knowledge that although her time with you was short, she was very happy especially with her husbun. Binky on little one xxx

I am so sorry you lost Lily. I hope Bugsy is doing OK. They are both gorgeous and looked so happy together. Nothing prepares us for the loss of our bunnies. We lost Timothy nearly 7 months ago and my heart still aches for him everyday. I sometimes think bunnies are too beautiful for this world and that’s why the angels just want to take them back.

                      Xx

All of those pictures are just the best!!! They look like a match made in heaven! So sad that it was so short. Cute, cute, cute. But so wonderful that you gave them and yourselves the experience of your lives together by bringing her into the fold. Great feelings and great memories. Of course with all of that comes the pain of loss, but in time that changes. I mean you always will miss them and have some sense of loss but it is lessened and the good memories remain and make you smile. At least that is what my experience is becoming and I wish the same for you two and little Bugsy, of course. What a right proper name for that little fellow by the way.

My heart goes out to you all as well. Thanks for loving your bunnies.
