Some of you may remember Latte had a lump on his back ages that the vet said wasn’t anything to worry about. It was slightly swollen and bleeding this morning so I took him back to the vets. It was full of pus under the skin and has now been drained. Latte has been sent home with Isaderm Gel to apply twice a day for a week then go back. Vet thinks it is either a cyst or a tumour, and thinks Latte may well need surgery to remove it either way, not ideal given he is 5 and a half.

On the plus side, the vet did say he is very sprightly for his age, but that’s little comfort and Latte isn’t speaking to me right now…

It’s good that treatment is being done for it! Although latte isn’t speaking to you, you’re doing him good nothing wrong with topical bonding time haha

Naaaw, Latte! I’m sorry to hear about the lump, but sprightly is wonderful! Do piggies give you the piggie butt, or how do they express their discontent?

Piggies can out do a bun when it comes to giving a piggy butt! Piggies also show disapproval by giving a deep internal rumble, and Latte rumbled away at me the whole time in the vets waiting room. It didn’t help that they’d had a doggy emergency (hit by car but thankfully superficial injuries only, and said dog walked out past us) so appointments were late and the waiting room was enlivened by two stressed dogs communicating vocally at each other from opposite corners, the one near us kept leaving little puddles, so the smell and sounds to poor Latte must have been awful. His fur around the lump has been completely trimmed by the vet, so no doubt that feels strange and a bit chilly too.

Sorry to here about Latte. Its good you are getting the help he needs. My bunny gives me the silent treatment after I put her in the carrier so I can clean. Occasionally she will box me but I am sure Latte will get over it and open up to you again.

Poor little sweetheart =( I’m glad the evil thing is drained now. I hope he won’t be needing surgery. (((((Latte)))))

Bathed it with warm salt water and applied cream this morning, he’s back to his normal self today, lump feels slightly raised, so not sure is it just swollen from yesterday or starting to fill up again. From what I can find out about the cream, its an anti-inflammatory, so will reduce any swelling from inflammation over the next few days. If its filling up with pus, past experience says it will be clear enough within a day or two, and if so, it’ll be straight back to the vets. He’s getting carrot for breakfast as a treat…. Buns of course will all get a small share too.

I’m glad you’re forgiven. Carrot can often help with that.

I hope the gel helps! Did the vet say why he would like to remove it even if it turns out to just be a cyst? Is it really big or something? ((((Latte))))

Its the size of a finger nail, its oozzing pus this morning, so we’re straight off to the vets…

Vet says what is coming out is too think to be pus and is probably calcium, pointing to it being a tumour, though it would need sending off a sample for analysis to confirm he says keep applying cream and bring him back next week

He’s eating fine, he’s currently tucking into some home-grown wheat grass, but rumbling at me so I’m clearly out of favour, but not enough to justify the effort of the full piggy butt when I’ve just given such a peace offering!

That’s good : ) A bit like when Bam is angry with me (for nailclipping or weighing etc) , but doesn’t give me the bunny butt until after he’s finished his well-deserved treat.

Maybe you can even find fresh dandelion greens this time of year

Latte saw the vet again this morning. The wound isn’t closing properly and the vet says without surgery, it’ll just keep getting re-infected

So poor Latte is going in tomorrow to get the tumour removed, safe op vibes, please!

Latte is home, they vet had to cut quite a bit out, so he has quite a long cut on his back, so we have to make sure he doesn’t chew on it
Right now he is tucking into some sprouting broccoli fresh from the local market, hopefully he’ll sleep on a full tum after!

Latte is bright eyed and hungry this morning, so far he seems to be leaving his wound alone, he isn’t impressed the buns are all out in the garden, but its not nearly warm enough for a convalescent piggy out there! He’s just been given some carrot and is tucking into that quite happily though.
