My sweet, lovable Roxy passed away suddenly this morning, in her favorite hiding spot. I adopted her just seven months ago. She was rehomed a few times in her six or seven years, and I knew I’d be her last, but I wish we’d had so much more time together.

She was a constant source of happiness; she would sit with me for hours while I pet her. And when I came home from work every day, she’d always run over to greet me. She gave me so much comfort and a purpose that I didn’t know I needed.

I’ve had family pets before, but she was the first one that I had on my own. I miss her so much already, and it hasn’t even been a day. I feel overwhelmed with grief, so I’m just trying to focus on how grateful I am that we were in each other’s lives, even for a short time. Roxy was my first bun, and this forum has helped me many times. I know you all understand how hard this is.

Rest in peace, my bundle. I hope there are mountains of kale and pellets wherever you are now. ❤

my heart goes out to you and after recently losing my own precious bun know that someone feels the grief, loss and loneliness (as do many on this forum) as keenly as you do today, tomorrow and many days from now. I dont know how I would have made it this far wirhout the posted and implied support of the members of this sight. Keep the love for your bun in your heart until you can take it out and have joy in the memories without the tears and grief. my love to you, stewy’s mum

I am so sorry you have lost your Roxy, but how lucky of her to have found you in her last months of her life.
Poor thing, having been adopted so many times but yes they do touch our hearts and take a bit when they leave.
You will feel better in time, I promise, and I hope you will adopt a very lucky bunny once again, soon.

Thank you both so much. It’s comforting to know that I’m not alone, even though it’s awful that we must all go through this. I’m still crying often, and today will be especially difficult because I need to clear out her area and store her pen away. I painted a rabbit-shaped dish at a pottery studio last night in her honor, and I’m going to make a photo album of her, since I took so many pictures.

I plan to adopt a pair of buns once I’ve given myself plenty of time to mourn her. She’s given me a lot, including a deep love and appreciation for these special companions.

I’m very sorry about the loss of your sweet Roxy. Remember that you gave her a wonderful, loving home, something that she possibly never had before. It sounds like she loved you very much.

I can’t imagine how hard this must be on you as she was your first bun. I feel like a first bun holds an extra special place in our heart. Please feel free to share photos of her from your album.

Oh yes…the love of a first bun. So much pain when they leave. And I agree, it’s hard to explain to someone how you never knew the kind of feeling that you could have toward your little rabbit, of all things. The typical person will just look at you with blank eyes. But to us that relate…yeh, nothing like it.

I am glad that she found you for her last home. It sounds like you two were great for each other. And it is a shame that it didn’t last longer. And lastly it is wonderful that you can already commit to adopt another pair of bunnies when the time is right.

                      Take care.
