so dasher has a new bad habit, it started about a week ago. she goes to the side of our couch and pulls out the carpet. She started it a few days before we got a new rabbit, and we have tried everything short of putting a fence around our couch. we’ve tried toys, i lay on the ground with her to keep her occupied, we keep moving her far away. nothing helps, she always comes back to the that exact spot, day after day and destroys carpet. Dasher isn’t spayed yet, shes to young, which could be why shes acting out. does anyone have any suggestions to curtail this behavior? i was thinking maybe theres a spray that would work. thanks!

I had/have the same thing with mine – unfortunately if there’s a spot they like, they are gonna go for it!

I will either place an acceptable alternative there (a Chill ‘N’ Chew Mat like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Boredom-Breaker-Rabbits-Chincillas-Ferrets/dp/B003MX9X7S) wedged under the couch leg so it stays in place, he always shreds that instead. Much better than trying to distract with toys! You could also purchase a cheap flatweave rug or use squares of carpet cutoffs in the area.

Otherwise, you really do have to cover it up, either with a fence or stuffing it with cushions/a blanket to block up the spot.

Corners, nooks & crannies all look like perfect digging spots to bunnies because they think they’re burrowing themselves a home! (adorable really).
