        Hi,

I really like this setup and kind of want to try making something like this

        https://www.pinterest.com/pin/438186238737559983/

        Flynn's new NIC cage.

I keep hearing about linoleum for the flooring of these cages?  How do we make sure it stays and the cage doesn’t slide around?  Would the flooring be waterproof?  The bunny we are adopting is allegedly litter trained but I’m not sure and want to take precaution just in case I have to clean up pee off the floor.   Also I hear a lot of people put sheets or blankets over the flooring, but what do you do if the rabbit pees on it?  Seems really difficult to clean.  I’m thinking of just waiting until I know for sure the rabbit pees in the litter box before we do that?

Also what size does the inside grid need to be for it to be safe?  I can’t seem to find the original website that said it.. 1 inch?

Some of our NIC panels have bigger size grates than the others.

I’m not sure about the NIC grids because I don’t use them, but for flooring linoleum is a good choice. Laying down fleece or blankets is actually really great. I do it with my boys. Lining the linoleum with it will give him traction to be able to run/jump/binky without feeling like he’s going to fall. It will also give him a pretty safe digging outlet as well. As for cleaning it, just sprtiz it with some vinegar and toss it in the washer, so it’s not a huge deal to clean.
If he’s unneutered he is liable to still spray/have accidents just because of his hormones. This might likely happen the first week or so as he gets adjusted to his new environment.

where do you get linoleum? home depot sells vinyl flooring, I think that is the same thing? would I be able to just lay strips of it on my carpet? do I have to glue it together? not sure how this works cause it seems like flooring is sold in squares

It would honestly be better just to lay fleece or old blankets down where you intend on having the cage. Adding the extra step of linoleum or vinyl won’t really do much. If you intend to leave it without the fleece, your bun might be nervous to walk on the floor because they won’t be able to get traction enough to hop/binky without sliding all over the place. As long as your bun is litter trained, you won’t really need to clean the blankets more than once a week. If they have an accident you can spritz with vinegar and water until you’re able to fully clean.
