Maybe the holidays were a little wild and they’re recovering?

                Hi guys!
                It’s Boston’s mama!

I haven’t been on in ages and I was just in google trying to see some old photos of Boston and in search I found this thread!
The reason I left the page was due to it being to painful to come on here until now.
Sadly my other half and one of my daughters hay fever became extreme enough that deep sinus infections had set in and it was causing issues breathing at night for my daughter and came extremely close to surgery for my other half. It came down to move Boston outside or find him a new home so he can continue being an indoor pet. It was extremely hard to do but we knew we really only had one option for him. It was a little over a year ago now.

Just recently we adopted a new pet ( one that does not require hay nor trigger any allergies) a adult bearded dragon

Hi Boston’s mama! So good to hear from you! We have been missing you – as you probably understand from this thread =)

I’m very sorry your family has had these problems. Allergies really suck, I’m very allergic to cats myself and could not live in the same house as a cat no matter how much I would want to. It’s not something you can compromize with, esp not if breathing is affected. I’m just very lucky I’m not allergic to dogs and rabbits. It must’ve been very painful for you to have to rehome Boston.

                  A bearded dragon sounds adorable!

Thank you so much yes, it was very painful – a year on and it still hurts us to think about Boston. But, as you said, health is not something that can be comprized with.
A year on and we have just adopted Marlow. He is a wonderfully sweet wee guy

Hello ! Thank you popping in to let us know how things are. I’m really sorry you had to face that difficult decision about Boston. I know you liked to spoil him so I know you would have taken care to find right home for him.

I kept coming across his photos when I did image searches of BB. Such great photos. I think you last avatar was Christmas themed Boston.

Photos of Marlow are welcome here!

Thanks everyone! I’ve missed you all and your bunnies too!
Yes Boston was quite the poser! Very attention seeking hehe
Marlow loves the camera too! I tried to upload a photo last night through puffin the old way I used to but it kept saying “does not support this format” so I’m not sure how now lol

                          How are you all???!
                          How’s all your beautiful bunnies?

Thanks I think he knows it
He’s a sweet wee boy. He still has some growth catching up to do as he was only the size of a 5month old dragon when he was 9months old due to being in a very small viv and not the right lighting etc before we adopted him. He also had parasites that needed treatment. We have had him 2 months now and he’s grown almost 5inches and gained around 50grams so he’s nearly caught up

Just had a good read about their care. They sound awfully similar to bunnies, minus all the fur xD I wonder if the two could coexist peacefully considering it manly eats bugs and vegetation? Something to look into!

He’s actually like having a bunny without the mess
No chewing , no fur , no wee (being a desert animal they just have a white part at the end of their poop which is called a urate- no pee!) , they also like to be clean and most won’t poop in their viv and come to the glass when they need to go so you can pop them in a shallow bath to bathe and then poop in it ( obviously you scoop the dragon out quickly after!)
The main thing is making sure your lighting is right right off the bat – pet shops will and do sell and recommend items that are dangerous for bearded dragons so if you do venture down the dragon owning path one day – the absolute key two things are – get a Arcadia 12% t5 for your uvb and a vivarium that’s 4ft x2ft x2ft as that’s the ideal size for a big full grown adult

Oh, Marlow is beautiful! So great we get to see him! I know nothing about beardies, so I looked them up. It seems they like blueberries. That’s very rabbit-like!

Haha yes most like blueberries, but Marlow does not , he spits them out with disgust.
Beardies eat 20% veg when little and once they are adult they need 80% veg- apparently it’s usually hard to transition them to the veg but Marlow loooves veg. Rocket, kale, pumpkin, sweet potato, squash, parsnip, carrot, green beans , peas, pak Choy – and most herbs too – but fruit he’s not too keen on. They only need a small amount of fruit twice a week so it’s not to big of a deal but we keep trying. He does love apple and mango baby food though. The key with beardies is variety – to get everything they need they must have their veges and food rotated.
