Hi All! My name is Annie and I’m new to Binky Bunny, but my newest edition to my family has lead me here. I just adopted a 2 year old female named Daisy, who is the sweetest thing! I already have a 5 year old male at home named Jack who was very lonely and looking for a friend. So, my husband and I brought Daisy home. Right now, I have them in two separate cages but living side by side next to each other in a common area. Jack has been fixed for years now, Daisy I need to get her spayed. Should I keep them in separate cages and apart until after I get Daisy fixed? Any comments/advice is most welcomed! Thank you!

Hi! And kudos to you for adopting that girl Yes, she needs to be spayed first and then you need to wait until all her hormones are flushed out (a few weeks) before beginning the bonding process!

Hi! I bet Jack is so excited . Agree with Muchelle, they cannot have any physical contact until the weeks after she is spayed, lest there will be serious fights between the two. There’s a good section on the Pre-bonding and Bonding processes here on the “Bunny Info” tab. Also, the surgery and recovery is a little more rough for spaying than neutering, so it helps to make a list of all the things you’ll need for when Daisy comes home after her spay (ie. hot water bottle, blanket, pain meds, veggies, etc).
