Hello! I just brought home a 9 month old holland Lop buck yesterday. I’ve left him alone (except to feed and water him) for most of yesterday to give him some adjustment time. Today I came home from Work and found some loose poops in his cage. I checked his bum and wiped off some that had gotten stuck. He’s pretty stinky though. He isn’t neutered yet but will be soon after he settles in here. What else can I do to clean him up. I don’t want to bathe him as he is probably already a little stressed being in a new home. I need to cut his nails too (should I wait?) I was told he was near other males and they were having a marking party with one another. I know he will probably clean him self up, over time, but I’m just stumped here. My other bun has never has any issues (they haven’t met, and won’t until a month or more after neuter)
        Thanks. Sorry for rambling!
        Jenn

Hi! Is he eating the same foods he was fed before you brought him home? I agree with not bathing him. Does his fur all over smell, or just his bum?

She gave me the food he was eating so that I can transition him over. The only thing New he had was parsley (I figured it was pretty safe) I think just his behind and feet are stinky. ?

I think I replied to you directly. Sorry. New here! ? anyway.
Switching over his food gradually. Only gave him a bit of parsley yesterday. Mostly his bum and feet are stinky. Since he was apparently spraying around all the other bucks (they were too). Thanks for responding!

Once he settles in a bit longer, he might let you take a washcloth wrung out with warm water to wipe his coat. Maybe it will help clean the spray off his fur, and he won’t get wet (just a little damp) so he will be less likely to get stressed. Hopefully he won’t have any more marking parties now that he isn’t with those other males .
