My rabbit has always been quite shy and doesn’t like to be handled. He was more scared when I first got him but not he comes up to me and isn’t scared of my hand when I bring it near his face, but he only like being petted on the forehead and nowhere else. He’s never purred or put his head to the ground when I’ve petted him either and he HATES being touched anywhere else or picked up. I don’t think its a trust thing because he has had time to trust me and I think he does because he’s not scared of me really only when I touch his body or try and grab him. He is a nether and dwarf and I’ve heard that they are usually like that. Do you think this is just his personality or will he ease up over time?

We have 2 Bunny sisters that are 11 weeks old. We brought them home at 8 weeks. Sassy loves being petted but Lulu usually hops away. I’ve read that if they do sort of a thump or kick when they hop away from being petted that it means they are upset or basically letting you know, “don’t do this.” Since Lulu just hops away I feel like she has better things to do then lay for me to pet her. This may be the same for you.

Don’t get discouraged. Bunnies can be very cautious at any time and also like kids, live in the moment. By that I mean they want to do what they feel is fun at that moment and don’t understand why you want them to stop and snuggle. ?

A rabbit learns to trust in their own time. Just because you think he’s had enough time to trust you doesn’t mean he feels the same.

Why are you touching his body when you know he doesn’t like it? Why are you grabbing him?
