Hello! I made an account very recently (needed medical advice) and I should probably introduce myself!

My name is Chey. This is my first time having bunnies. I got S’mores about a year ago, and Coco six months ago. My mom pretty much insisted we get a pet bunny, as she heard they’re extremely helpful for people with depression. Sadly that hasn’t been the case with me, as S’mores is quite an antisocial bunny. To get a bit personal, I feel like I failed somewhere along the line, mainly because I barely petted her when she was young, out of fear of scaring her to death. Six months later, my dad gets a bunny. However, that slowly changed to me being Coco’s owner. I tried petting Coco more this time around, but I still don’t think I did enough, as he’s still rather jumpy and antisocial. Currently S’mores lives in my bedroom, with free roam of almost the entire room. Coco is currently in a cage in my room, out of reach of S’mores. (Both of them aren’t fixed as of yet, so I have them separated, but I am working to get them used to each other so they can both have free roam of my room after Coco’s fixed) EDIT: Coco is now neutured, and S’mores has an appointment to get spayed on May 22nd!. I’m slowly working to gain their trust, and hopefully we can all be great friends.

But now, onto the more important part, here’s info on the bunnies!

        S’mores

Nicknames: BunnyButt, little nerd, sassy bun

Personality: Spoiled, sassy, and to quote my dad, “a fluffy ball of attitude”

Likes to hide behind my trashcan, get into places she’s not supposed to be (where I keep the bunny supplies, behind my dresser, etc.), and chew on everything but the rabbit chew toys that I specifically got for her, little nerd

(Image is quite old, but shows her general attitude)

        Coco

        Nicknames: Bunbun

        Personality: Timid 24/7

Likes to hide in a little house in his cage and eat hay

(image is like super old, it was taken like the day we got him)

My bun runs off if he senses I’m depressed or sick, welcome to the club

Your fluffballs are so cute! They may be antisocial, but they look soooooft

            Welcome

What adorable floofs! Coco reminds me of the soot gremlins in Totoro….

Are you planning to bond them once they are both fixed? I’ve found that shy bunnies often come out of their shell and are more trusting when they have a friend.

Hi! A “fluffy ball of attitude” lol, I like that one. Luna took around 8 months to become 100% comfortable around me, so try not to feel discouraged . Also, buns can sense emotions (ie. if you give off a hesitant vibe then they will act hesitant too). It can be hard, but try to give off a confident non-predator vibe when you interact with them. Though I definitely understand your concern about not wanting to scare them!

I plan on bonding them once Coco’s fixed (Sadly that’s gonna be around April, because the closest vet near me that handles bunnies is going on maternity leave)

Hi, welcome to BB! Lots of valuable information around here! I suggest taking a skim through the bonding section beforehand, so you have an idea of what to expect!

Regarding their being timid, it took a lot for me to get Ophelia comfortable with me. I sat on the floor with her for hours every day! Just keep spending time with them and they’ll likely warm up to you
