Hey everyone a couple months ago I posted here asking for advice about a family that mistreated a lot of their bunnies, and how I could find a way to stop it or to make them become aware of what they were doing wrong. Recently, they came to my home and they met Rain. They saw how I cared for him and everything that I try to give to him. I saw true guilt and realization in their eyes. I quote these words directly from one of the girls “ I’m going to try and give my rabbit everything that I’ve seen you give to yours. I feel truly bad that so many of the rabbits from my childhood were treated so badly.”
I believe that they will definitely try to improve the way they treat their bunny. I’m so glad that it was that simple and that I didn’t have to call someone to go and take their bunny away from them for animal abuse.
I felt that I should let those who gave me such great advice on this matter know about the great improvements and changes they are making. I feel the root of this problem was their mother. She almost started chasing Rain because she wanted to hold him even though I told her multiple times that rabbits don’t like being held and especially not by someone they don’t even know. She thought Rain was a different breed of rabbit from the one her kids have because he is like twice the size of theirs. Their rabbit is also a Netherland Dwarf and he is older than mine. He’s probably very underweight.
I’m hoping that their bunny has a better life. Thank you guys for helping me to achieve my goals. As I am just a teen, I didn’t think I could actually do something like this. But you guys were the main people who helped!

Just speaking the truth The situation made you suffer and by standing up to them and showing them all of your passion for your little guy you were able to make a change in their life, not only in their bun’s life. People on here did give a push but you did the hardest part yourself.
I sincerely hope it will be a lasting change and that they won’t hold back and ask for advice if they need it.

Well done rain. I just wanted to say without sounding patronising that I think your doing a great job in representing young rabbit owners. You sound very mature and responsible for your age. It’s lovely to see your passion. I’ve read a few of your posts (not sure I’ve ever responded) and I think you come across very well and it’s very reassuring to see someone be so eager to learn and try to do the best for their bunny at such a young age

I just noticed you finally have an avatar with Rain in it! He is absolutely adorable! I keep telling my husband that when Asriel and Bombur cross the rainbow bridge, that I want a Nethie. He’s convinced I’ll get another Holland Lop because I adore my boys, but we’ll see. He wants a dog instead, but he’s afraid he got me bunny sick now that we’ve had our two for 8 months xD

Thank you sososososososo much guys! I can’t express enough happiness and great fullness to your sweet, kind and inspiring replies! Thank you! It means so very much to me that you guys said that! You all are so amazing. I hope to do more for rabbits in the future. I’m thinking about becoming a vet maybe.
You know bam, he might be. Rains six months
old and there’s no sign of anything down below. Unfortunately the pet store I bought him from isn’t a very trustworthy one. I’m not sure. Maybe it takes longer? Rain actually does look like a girl. (Thank you btw!!! )
Asriel and Bombur I definitely recommend a nethie!!! They are so adorable with their smushed little faces. And the EARS!!!! I could write a hundred page essay on how cute bunnies are.
All in all, thank you Muchelle, Eddy, Bam, Asriel and Bombur, GarfyTheLop! You all are so encouraging and inspiring!!! Thank you!

Yay!! What a great idea to give them some perspective by seeing what you are doing. Sometimes we just have to let people come to their own realizations because they can’t be TOLD what they’re doing wrong, they have to recognize it themselves before they’re willing to inflict change. I truly hope that they do what they say!
